Haha. I think a lot of armies have probably used fake weaponry to scare the opposition in the past. I think we should invest in giant fake weapons that have shelter for homeless people inside. I'm not a lefty, but that'd keep everyone happy right? Works for a lot of small breasted women.

Im in favour of scrapping Trident but not telling anyone that we've scrapped it. That we way we still have the Trident deterrent option but without the Tridenty bit. What could possibly go wrong?

It'll probably turn out everyone else in the world has done the same and most wars will be reduced to a pillow fight.

This is the premise behind Phillip K Dicks 'The Zap Gun', in which two super powers have been involved in a arms race, in which they have long since lost the capability to actually produce the weapons that the public are being led to believe they possess, and neither side is aware of. Which makes for one serious problem when a alien threat turns.

Ah, using the old North Korea defence. Good thinking. They do make very good and very big papier mache though don't they. Yeah I doubt those missiles were real. Although in fairness, North Korean Missile technology is pretty good, they don't seem to have mastered inter-continental ballistic missiles (hell, the UK and France hasn't managed to achieve long range ballistic missile technology either). I think its only Russia, China and the US that have mastered the solid state fuel systems necessary to produce them). One of the reasons we use Polaris missiles and trident, is that its more cost effective than using ICBM, which the US isn't keen on selling us (its in their interests for US to use Polaris missiles, rather than develop solid state fuel missile technology).
