Don't be surprised to see Speroni, McArthur, Sako, Campbell and Delaney in the starting line up Wednesday. Think big Sam will save the big guns for Burnley when we could make it mathematically safe depending on results in midweek & Saturday.

Doubt it. Spurs had a tough Saturday, Sam will want a draw at least.

If we beat Spurs, I'll be very impressed; really can't see it happening. We were lucky against Chelsea, we played a badly out of form Arsenal and a Liverpool side we always do well against and are inconsistent this season. Spurs are just solid and on top form.

I disagree with the Chelsea game; we thoroughly deserved the win and had the better chances to extend the lead. Chelsea didn't have any clear cut chances if I recall.

We never get a result vs Arsenal and regardless of their form was throughly deserved again.

You don't get to choose how your opponents play. The wins were all deserved, especially the Chelsea one because they played to their full ability and we still won.

Conversely, we had an off day against Southampton, and lost.

If we beat Spurs on Wednesday it will be deserved regardless of how it happens.

We don't do possession; we do defense and attack. Everything else is just wa**ing with a football.

You are sort of right but these teams normally just turn up and win even when we play ok so we have turned the tables. We always knew we had good players that were underachieving so it should not be too shocking that they are producing now. I know they have a few key injuries but on paper and especially the bench we were as good if not better than Liverpool today imo

Two thirds of the league would be delighted to get those 3 wins over all of the season. We've done it over a matter of weeks. Weds game will be 2 of the most inform teams going head to head so I think we have a good chance. They won't like the idea of playing us at the moment. Bet they wish it was Stoke. COYP !!

Absurdly, we could finish 8th. Or we could still finish eighteenth.

If this was 1993, 1995 or 2005, it would be the latter. Funny how paranoid pessimism sets in after decades of disaster.

Still getting used to things going our way. We are on the cusp of a fifth straight year in the prem...who'd have thought it?

Our blueprint for success...7 managers in 5 years.
The whole thing is bonkers...but its rarely ever dull.

On with the roller coaster!

Yeah agree. A lot of my mates who support other teams were shocked that we were in a relegation battle with the calibre of players that we do have.

Don't get me wrong, I'm absolutely ecstatic about even getting one of them, let alone three, over the few weeks like you say. They definitely don't, but I do think it'll be on the same level as Chelsea tough. Saying that, I said we'd lose all of those and beat Southampton, so what do I know!

He will definitely rest a couple, it's a marathon, playing 3 games in a week can have longer damage.

Speroni deserves a shot in goal.

Townsend, you rest him - he could either have a blinding game (be knackered for saturday) or try too hard and let the occasion get to him.

Zaha, similar, esp with it being Spurs and their interest.

Sakho comes back in, PVA too. Schlup pushing up to replace Townsend.

I would say after 60 mins a few tactical changes with an eye on Saturday.

Given that Hennessey had little to do today gives Big Sam has a nice problem there. It would be nice to give him a rest against Spurs and start Speroni but he's on a roll right now and goalkeeping is all about confidence. PVA should return as left back with Schlupp in front of him. Let Townsend and McArthur start with Cabaye and Zaha coming on if needed in the second half. Unless Tomkins is fully fit he should not play at all with Sakho coming back into the side. At this point, with safety in our grasp, let's not risk players rashly.

A goaly is hardly going to need resting.
