Getting back to the point of unfair dismissal, he would have to prove that his dismissal was due to an "unfounded" charge of racism was either the reason either wholly or in part. (The quote marks are to indicate a what the Sun might claim.) The Sun may claim he has materially hurt their business, pointing to the boycott and both Premier League clubs banning their reporters from their premises. I'm sure if he is sacked he will get a tidy severance package to keep the whole matter out of court.

Whether he knew or not, the general slurs he aims (once again) at Liverpool are disgraceful. Originally posted by Kermit8
What about 'freedom of hate speech?' - Do you think that should that be allowed again and be de-criminalised? I picked two posts at random complaining about the slurs against the good people of Liverpool but hardly a day goes by without at least one reference in this forum to bin dippers. Double standards healthily working away as usual

But he is being paid to communicate in a national newspaper to 10 million readers (not just buyers) whereas this is loads of conversations in a pub. Like I said before, Jimmy Boyle, Jimmy Carr etc get away with it, a newspaper (or entertainment publication) shouldn't.

Double standards healthily working away as usual There is a difference between general piss taking, and a specific character assassination in a national newspaper that has racial overtones whether deliberate or not. There is a bigger picture too, McKenzie has a lot of previous and the decision to write this piece this weekend is not a coincidence. If it was a more mainstream commentator who had been clumsy with his words, there would have been an apology and that would in all likelihood be that

"There is something about the lack of reflection in his eyes which makes me certain not only are the lights not on, there is definitely nobody at home. I get a similar feeling when seeing a gorilla at the zoo. The physique is magnificent but it’s the eyes that tell the story." He's calling him stupid, struggling to see the part where he physically compares him to a gorilla other than saying he has a magnificent physique. Have I missed something?

This is a lot of saddos jumping on anything they can find to make a 'racism' story. Where to begin? Is it or is it not the case that historically images of gorillas, and thrown bananas, were one of the nastier racial attacks in football and worryingly regular. Someone of Mackenzie's generation would know this in a highly ingrained way. Using a gorilla was always massively insensitive, not checking whether there could also be racial overtones in this specific case negligent in the extreme. And picking on a player in Liverpool this week of all weeks when you are the Sun. It simply can't be a coincidence, trying to get in their revenge in an underhand way I suspect. Either that or again unbelievably stupid. Either way the stupidity has to be called out. People from Liverpool are no different from anyone else in the UK so why do some on this site seem to think they deserve what they get? Oh and by the way, having read a small number of his articles, Mackenzie is one of the most odious people I have ever come across. Edited by Mapletree (17 Apr 2017 3.30pm)

Haha he's an absolute c***, should have gone years ago, you can say what you like about freedom of speech but he has a duty to inform facts in his "newspaper". He should have done his research, but even if this is unfair, f*** him. He's had a career peddling s*** to impressionable people who don't have time/effort to fact-check his hate or read the tiny retrations on page 45. What goes around comes around

He is a horrible little cvnt but he did know his audience: " You just don't understand the readers, do you, eh? He's the bloke you see in the pub, a right old fascist, wants to send the wogs back, buy his poxy council house, he's afraid of the unions, afraid of the Russians [muslims that would be today], hates the queers and the weirdos and drug dealers. He doesn't want to hear about that stuff (serious news) "
