Wrighty for me. Remember Mike Elwiss I believe he came from Preston. But for a cruel injury could well have been one of the greats.
Curly eagles dad, 45 years of Palace. Never ever a dull moment, Oh Happy Days |

It has to be Wrighty for me. Chris Armstrong definitely deserves a mention to. Had unbelievable pace for a guy who was 6'1 and was a beast in the air. As someone else mentioned Matt Jansen had the potential to be unbelievably good. Injuries hampered a very promising career.
Don't waste your time with jealousy. Sometimes your ahead, sometimes your behind, the race is long. But in the end it's only with yourself!! |

At the time he played for us, and this may be with rose tinted specs, Peter Taylor was pretty special.

From what my dad told me Johnny Byrne must have been like Wrighty AND Brighty but all in the one player. But I never saw him so for me Wright by a country mile is our best attacker and would swap the 26 year old him with any of our attackers past and present that I have seen in a heartbeat.

From what I've seen, mid/late 80s. The obvious ones Wright (from raw talent to a Rools Royce in a few short years ) , Bright (why hasn't he had many mentions, class in his own right), Johnson ( forget the penalties, he won most of them as when he was running in the box he was virtually unplayable), Armstrong (pace and power), Jansen (a lovely player who had time on the ball and a rocket of a shot, also apparently donated a lot of money once he'd left and we was in administration, class). Murray (strong/brave and a good goal scorer, bullied defenders) Also really liked Forsell and Stuart on their loans, different players but both quality. Garry Thompson (hard as f**k, proper no nonsense centre forward , if Benteke had his nastiness he'd be £50mil) Coleman was a good stand in centre forward. Freedman was a lovely player, but the way he left as a manager has killed it for me. Morrison, average player but a good goal scorer. Edited by Casual (14 Apr 2017 9.18pm)

Still have a soft spot for Chris Armstrong. Paid a huge wedge (at the time) for a Milwall unknown but the guy stepped up and was sublime. Loved that guy he hit the ground running when he joined. Still remember him scoring a fantastic diving header against Millwall. Without doubt though its Wrighty, watched a documentary on him the other day, when he said he never actually played a game for Dulwich Hamlet. He was there on trial when spotted by the Palace scout. No mention of Murray on here who was fantastic for us and on a free too.

Going back a while - with Dave Swindlehurst - and even further back - with Cliff Holten. Neither probably the best, but would both come in the top 10,
