I can't see how we are going to fund the necessary replacements required without selling Wilf. If not Wilf then who?
It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses. |

EPL money & billionaire shareholders could help FFP has been our main issue but there's a fair few contracts that won't be renewed when they expire at the end of the season - should free up a reasonable pot of cash for wages too.
Will this be five? It's gonna be five! It IS five! |

Alan Pardew 1st season everything was going rosey until he thought he could turn us into Barca style with Delaney in the back 4. Let's enjoy the current success but let's not get carried away. A question is big Sam look like a great manager because of Alan Pardew failings? Absolutely not ~ Sam is looking good in his own right and comparable to any Manager in the Premiership right now

Unfortunately, I am an eternal pessimist who hopes to be proven wrong. Should we stay up next season we there are 3 things we must do. - Secure Big Sam BFS has a lot of ambition, Parish has shown willingness to match it. It seems to have put the fire back in his belly. So there's little risk of loosing hime. I don't think Wilf will want to leave London, and he'll want to play in the Champions League. That leaves Chelsea and Spurs. He doesn't fit in to Chelsea's system. From my limited knowledge, Spurs don't have another out and out wide man to play on the other wing. He's also worth a lot more to us than any other side. I think we will meet his wage demand and stay for at least one more season. The only other interest in Sahko is from West Brom. I think we can beat them to his signature. It all depends on how much money Liverpool are after. We are also likely to get Wickham and Pape back next season. They will almost feel like new signings. Cabaye, Mandanda and a number of fringe players might be leaving. Puncheon is also starting to get on a bit. Which means we'll also need a keeper, a right back, a defender (Sahko), a centre midfielder, an attacking midfielder, a winger and a striker to ensure we have sufficient depth in the squad. That's still a lot of signings.

Under contract, seems happy, and re-establishing his credentials - plus big clubs don't tend to go in for Sam and he's not really known for walking away. I doubt any club will make an offer to him before Christmas when they establish 'a need to stay up'. - Secure Wilfred Zaha - I think this will prove impossible. High profile, established himself as consistent and now one of the brightest talents in this league. Proven and at a club that can be influenced and leveraged in terms of profile and finance rewards. - Sign Sahko - I think this is slightly more possible than retaining Zaha, on the basis that Liverpool want shot of him, and I don't think he'll fit in with Kloopy-chops. That said, I also think almost every other team from outside the biggest six, will be interested as well. I see him going to Everton.

Next year the priority is staying up. Same as every year. We should be happy with being an also ran at this level and look to build the best squad we can and take anything extra as a bonus. I think it'll be a long time before we have another Leicester City story. Clubs like Bolton, Blackburn, Charlton, Newcastle, West Ham etc have all paid a heavy price for trying 'to be more than they are'. And to be honest, there isn't really much incentive to finish in the top 10, other than Europe - and that can be a poison chalice.

Think keeping our manager and the top players next season are inter connected. Two halves of the same issue.

He wants guaranteed first team football which none of the top half dozen clubs will give him. I think the Manchester experience was an eye opener and I don't think he will make same mistake again. Yes he is older and has got more consistent but in my view he is still not ready for theses sides. My only worry would be Arsenal their interest may just turn his head.

You think that Parish didn't mean his assertion that we need to move away from our small team mentality? Also, there's a huge difference between having PL survival as a priority (which clearly it has to be) and being "happy with being an also ran".
