Regarding Pardew. Sounds like a book title.

Palace since 19 August 1972. Palace 1 (Tony Taylor) Liverpool 1 (Emlyn Hughes)

Glazier to Glazier.

In this book Alan talks about how he had to permanently drop successful relegation fighters and club favourites, and then 18 months later believes the reason for his dismissal was he was too loyal to some players. Those players then (reluctantly) adopt Sam Allardyce's tactics and with a few additions that hit the ground running, with Pardew's that didn't, Palace's performances after 2 months take a massive upturn and deliver as many results in one month as Alan over 12 months.

The editor will have a long job taking care of contradictions aplenty.

It's a great synopsis, Rudi, but I think it lacks credibility. Too far-fetched for the general literati.

Pity his ambition was only surpassed by his ego. That said, Ill always remember him and be tankful for his goal at the Holt End.

After narrowly staving off relegation in the previous season (we were always looking over our shoulder in the last 6 months) he talked Parish into an expansive game of football without addressing our obvious short comings.

Still, we stayed up and went to the cup final and fingers crossed we will stay up again.

I guess that's the reason why I can be charitable towards him.

'Regarding Pardew - we need to talk about Alan'. Mind you, it'll end up with most of the copies unsold and pulped.

Arrogance is the answer!
He thought he was better than he was; he never learnt from his mistakes and continued to make the same ones time and time again; he belittled the American Investors publicly when clearly then know more about football than he does and he just assumed he would not get the sack.

Arrogance is a much misused word on this forum. Never learning from his mistakes isn't arrogance. It's stupidity and assuming that you know why Pardew insulted the American investors is actually arrogance and not what and why he said what he did.

That's just it. You couldn't make half the sh1t up we've been through in recent times.

It's clear you haven't met the man. A legend in his own mind.

Arrogance is pretending you know better than everyone else when actually you haven't got a f*** ing clue.

The book should be called "The Manager's New Clothes".

i have no issues with pardew at all, on the whole did a good job whilst at palace.

would be interesting to see how this season panned out had he been afforded the 40m we spent in january back in the summer.

Kick a man while he's down comes to mind.

Some people on here are gutless.

He tried an expansive style of football with the backing of the owners and unfortunately it didn't work. We got to a cup final during the ride for which I am truly grateful to him and the players.

I'll always welcome him back as a guest and shake his hand.
