Players never publicly declare that they can play ONLY 1 position. Townsend may have said that he likes it there better. But it wasn't up to him. Townsend would never dare to comment a decision if the manager told him to play on the opposite wing. You misinterpreted a simple liking of Townsend with the fact that he moans about not playing where he likes. It wasn't Townsend's job to decide where he plays better. This is a manager's job
