I suppose it is possible to follow 95% of Christ's teaching in a philosophical life-direction way without having to go the whole hog and believe in an afterlife too and, thus, becoming silly.

There are gnostic Christian cults and sects, including the Quakers, which don't focus on life after death (Quakers argue that one should aim to create paradise on earth, rather than focus on what comes after death). Christianity as a term is basically a fraud of Catholicism (to a lesser extent) and Protestantism, to monopolise 'other associated groups' in to their political spectrum of authority.

What's the point of being a Christian then? LOL, this is clearly people that describe themselves as Christian but don't really have strong religious beliefs. Most people in the country would describe themselves as Christian, but yet think the whole premise is a fairy tale. Clearly anyone with any conviction would believe in the afterlife/heaven etc, as its fundamental to the whole thing.
