Thats how it sounded to me he may get sacked for football reasons but not this.

Well if Sunderland can sufficiently engineer this as a reason for disrepute, they wouldn't have to pay out his contract to sack him.

Here is the video... judge for yourself.

I'm not sure if he is joking or not... the woman reporter laughs nervously... not sure if that means she is comfortable with what he said.

However... she never made a complaint about it and this incident happened 2 weeks ago.

As usual someone else has been "offended" on someone else's behalf, so the FA etc etc get involved when they really didn't need to.

Typical.

That in itself isn't necessarily wrong though - Maybe her manager or co-worker reported it, because being 'a woman in a male dominated environment' coming forward or making a complaint can destroy your career etc. A lot of women in work environments put up with s**t that blokes don't have to.

Often employees are afraid for their job or 'making a fuss', and don't report all manner of things. Clearly someone saw it, and was concerned that it was 'somewhat hostile or threatening'.

I agree with this. Media reports suggest it is bullying, maybe/possibly but I do not think it was any worse than Mourinho's interview with the BBC reporter who asked a perfectly good question...oh I forgot , he was representing Manure

Did Mourinho 'potentially' threaten the report with violence?

Even more entertaining when it results in a little fart from the vulva.

Wife beating may be socially acceptable in Sheffield, but it is a different matter in Cheltenham

What Moyes actually joked was that the lady might get a slap "even though you are a woman". How in anyone's imagination can that be taken as sexist? He's actually saying that being a woman won't (as it usually would) protect you from the kind of treatment a man would expect in the same ironic (i.e. Jokey) situation.

I'm not saying it was the right thing to say; just trying to counter some of the hysteria (mostly on the BBC).

No but they way he acted it could easily be construed as bullying, you don't have to threaten violence to be a bully

If as stated that the comments were made in a jovial mood and both parties were laughing, then why did he feel the need to phone her to apologise.
Second point, it happened a couple of weeks ago, he apologised and she accepted the apology so why was it leaked to a newspaper.
Somebody was not happy with the outcome and wanted Moyes punished.

It is all very weird. Never thought Moyes would be like that, perhaps the pressure is telling. But how could anyone think it would be ok to say such things in a recorded interview?

Right I don't really get the big deal about this?

I haven't seen the incident but the BBC article says that they were laughing together while saying it which implies it was a joke and taken as such. She didn't make a complaint. Why should it be the biggest sports story of the day?

Quote
However, shadow sports minister Dr Rosena Allin-Khan called on the Football Association to get involved.

"This is disgraceful. David Moyes cannot get away with these sexist threats - the FA must take action immediately," she said.

How is it a sexist threat? Men say they'll give each other a slap all the time - it's not sexist is it?

Quote
Former England striker and BBC Match of the Day presenter Gary Lineker also condemned Moyes' behaviour.

"Moyes incident highlights a tendency for some managers to treat interviewers with utter disdain. Pressured job. Well rewarded. Inexcusable," he said.

Possibly a more understandable comment, but seems to ignore the fact it appears to have been a joke?

If Linekar was playing today he would not fall down when he got tripped up, he would float up and about just like all the other snowflakes at the BBC
