I take my lad and it does make you jump a bit the bang but we have great support especially away and I bet many clubs would love the extra passion and edge. Long may it continue. Who remembers the pirotecnic confetti thing in the Holmesdale a few years back that made a few jump and did not last long.

I would jump out my skin if I was sat near the HF and they let a banger off near me. I still did today a few blocks away. Still, thought it was all good natured fun. The police didn't when they retrospectively cuffed that lad and led him out of the HF section.

It strikes me that a lot of people's complaints about flares (etc) is an instinctive complaint that comes from being told that they are "not what we want to see in football grounds". I say that fully understanding that there might be fire safety issues with them and that is why grounds ban them. But it doesn't seem that that is the reason for the specific fan complaints - the complaints seem to be just a repeat of received wisdom: "I did not like them because I know I am not supposed to like them". If I had children that I took to the game, I feel that the language would bother me more than a bang and a bit of smoke! Although I did hear a rumour that they would not serve alcohol in our end because of the flares ... if that is true ... then I change my opinion and I hate them.

Christ, my language at the ref today was nothing short of appalling.

Maybe when we buy away tickets they should be sold in two categories A for the fans who want to offer loud vocal support and B for the wannabe big boys who do all as A but think letting off flares makes them big and clever How they get them in is a mystery but I'm sure there will be a hell of a stink when it gets out.
