Regards Delia Smith she had a bit of a 'Full and frank' discussion with Alex Neil who is a fiesty character and the next day he was relieved of his duties.

Looks like SM is a bit like AP with good runs then finds it hard to stop a run of poor results. He will get another job the question is why.

When he joined after 11 games, Derby were 19th.He had a terrific start winning 9 of his first 12 games and there was real expectancy that they would mount a promotion challenge. However they have only won 2 of their last 10 games and only won 1 of their last 5 Home games and now sit in 10th place so their promotion hopes have faded. No idea what targets he was set when he joined Derby. They have had 4 managers in just over a year. Pretty sure i read that he claimed his brief was to avoid relegation. If true, he has entitlement to be frustrated. If he's wrong, perhaps his employers should either make their objectives clearer or be less fickle and knee-jerk over a 10 match run of form in the midst of a 46-game season.

Having finished 5th last year and lost in the Play-Off semi-final, I find it hard to believe that just avoiding relegation was the target.

I'm just passing on what my contact told me "His remit when he went into the club was to get them out of trouble and to take them to safety which he feels he's achieved"

Don't know the situation "Behind the scenes" at Derby so cannot comment as to whether his sacking was justifiable.Sometimes we can look at situations and results etc but don't know the "Full picture".

"For me I suppose it's better to happen now than later on in the season where we can do something about it," McClaren added The wisdom of the man...it’s the manager who picks the team and it’s the manager and staff that train the players. Personally I think McLaren would bulls . up a five a side team if he took charge of it. Edited by manwitheagletattoo (20 Aug 2018 1.58pm)

Edited by manwitheagletattoo (20 Aug 2018 1.58pm) The narrative is that McClaren is an excellent coach but not that good as a manager but he did win the Eredivisie with Twente. Regards QPR, they finished a lowly 16th last season, have had to deal with the FPP fine and all McClaren has brought in are 2 'Frees' one of which is nearly 36 so his hands do appear to be tied.
