One signing I wouldnt want to see: Sakho.

No matter how consistent he will be these last months, paying 20 million for him is stupid. And I'd hate it if the fans demanded it in the summer (which seems to be the case)

Have you not watched our last 3 games. This guy is a class apart from any other defender we have. 20 mil is nothing these days if means we dine at the top table.

You're seeing him better than he is because he's only recently started playing here and has made no mistakes so far.
Paying 20 million for a center back is a big step towards bankruptcy.
I can name you at least 5 center backs who you can get for 5 million and are of similar quality

Good for you,but Sam picks our players and so far he has selected 4 good ones out of 4.
I'll leave it to Sam (Defoe for a year anyone). ?

Complete nonsense.

Does paying £27m for Benteke mean we're heading for bankruptcy? Of course not, the board will not buy anyone without weighing up the risks.

I'd love to hear your 5 centre backs for £5m of similar quality.

Go and give your head a wobble, when you're done give it another wobble

Well, in the winter I'd have gotten Kyriakos Papadopoulous. We got Sako, he went to Hamburg. He has been much better for Hamburg than Sako for Palace. They were second to last and now they're pretty much safe from relegation, while Palace isn't. He could have come for 5 million or even just on a loan with an option to pay.

Ok, now Papadopoulous is out of the question. But still, within 5 million you could get:

Cristian Zapata- Ac Milan- 30 years, 1,87

Nicolas N'Koulou- Lyon- 26 years, 1,84

Chancel Mbemba- Newcastle- 22 years, 1,82

Carlos Zambrano- Rubin- 27 years, 1,85

Christian Kabasele- Watford- 26 years, 1,87

All those clubs will be looking to offload them in the summer (maybe only Kabasele might have a chance to continue).

And I'd keep 15 million to buy an attacking player who can get me 10+ points than I'd normally have in a season. Imagine Palace with 10+ points in this moment. For 15 mill you could convince clubs to sell players like El Shaarawy or Pablo Sarabia, Stindl, Junuzovic, Immobile, Bakambu, Nils Petersen, Adrian Ramos, Ben Arfa or others like them.

Sako comes from a top 6 team. He'll be overestimated very much just because of that. In 3 years he'll be worth less than 6 million even if he regularly plays for Palace. That's just money thrown away when you bring a top 6 player for that sum.

sometimes its more than just cost and whos better out there.

fact is hes done v well, if his team mates get on v well with him then camaraderie will improve all the more into next season if we buy him...and squad confidence/morale as we all know is everything in this game.

mind you in saying all of that, we have been linked to some Napoli defender recently so perhaps we are not even anticipating buying him for that kind of fee anyway...

Mbemba and kabasele don't even play for their clubs. How have you deemed them good enough for the prem provided we stay up of course. I would like us to sign Ben Gibson and Sakho. Let's be honest Wilf, will probably leave and I think we cash in on benteke. I agree we need that attacking, goal scoring midfielder.
