Moan, moan and more moan, since our win yesterday various posters have slagged off Puncheon,Ward and now Benteke what the hell do you want from the lads.Benteke had a good game yesterday worked hard won a lot of ball against a three man defensive system and had Townsend having been set by him up passed the ball back across the six yard box for a tap in towards the end of the match everyone would be singing his praises..did you notice the boll*cking he gave Townsend, too right.

You'd think they were happier when they had something to really moan about wouldn't you? Perhaps that's what attracted them to Palace in the first place; the stench of imminent failure never really clears, which makes it ideal for the inveterate moaner.

I really don't know if it is because some people really don't know what they are talking about, some people like to troll, or if football really is a game of opinions and two people can watch the same players/games and yet have wildly opposite opinions on what they just saw.

So my tuppence worth:

Benteke: Yes is not a perfect striker, but we aint going to be able to sign the world class players. I don't think he is lazy he just holds a central position, maybe could commit to charging into the box a bit more. Those who say Wickham is better due to work rate forget Wickham works the flanks more but then is stuck out wide with the ball with no option in the centre, we all complain Wickham shouldn't be there as there is no target man centrally. Benteke does what we say Wickham should be doing and we call him lazy!

Punch: Works hard in the midfield, buzzes around and commits himself to tackles etc, is also a player who has a bit of creativity which you sometimes need to unlock a defense. Granted might lose the ball in a few of those attempts but worth the pay off as when it does work it creates a real chance. Local lad wearing the clubs captains arm band and it is obvious he has desire, would be stupid not to let him have it if he leads by example in commitment even though he may not be playing as well as he can, it'll come after a year of being in an under performing team, it is bound to affect his game, as can be seen with his recent shooting. He has it in his locker he just ain't quite firing on all cylinders at the moment but in a relegation fight like we are now in we need his fight.

If you think this is a moan you should avoid hol , when we lose. I thought we were terrific 1st half but when we drop back for 20 minutes after the break. Benteke lost Ariel duals and looked disinterested imo. I just expect Benteke to win more free kicks to get us up the pitch. I don't expect him to race to end to end of the pitch. Yes, we won but Middlesbrough are a poor side. It's great to win but Benteke will need to do more if we are to gain survival

I sometimes wonder if I'm watching the same team as people. Benteke is so isolated and while he does need to do better holding up the ball, the delivery needs to be better. 20 crosses came in and maybe 2 were decent quality.

Townsend had a decent game but should have squared it at the death and then Benteke would be back on the scoring track.

In the second half, we went into panic defense mode and played far too deep, leaving Benteke totally isolated for long spells against a back three. Even a AJ type would have trouble closing down three defenders, but as mentioned this isn't Benteke's game.
In the first half Andros, Wilf, Yohan and Punch were helping to press the defense, second half they dropped off. Also we seem to be slating a guy because of his demeanour. Clearly he's not a heart on his sleeve type of player in the snarling, rabid, "You looking at my bird" envelope. Funnily enough neither is Wickham, but no reason to doubt either one.
If I was their PR I'd tell them they need to cry after a defeat to PROVE they love CPFC.

Benteke needs to take a look at some videos of Ian Rush who used to anticipate what defender would receive the ball from the GK and immediately shut him down. I heard Dean Saunders say on the radio the other day that he was regarded as also Liverpool's best defender because of this. On a positive note, if you look st CB's work rate yesterday it was an improvement but still a lot more work to do.

Despite him being top goal scorer. He brings little else to the team. His lazy, lack of movement and look uninterested and especially in the 1st half he had the service. If we manage to stay up and we're offered the 32m, we paid we should sell. If he doesn't score we may aswell play Campbell.

Lazy? Lack of Movement? I give up. As the saying goes. Like trying to educate pork.

Disinterested? that why he bollocked Greedsend for not passing to him to kill the game off. I actually think some people know f*** all about football and just post on here coz they're fed up with the Jeremy Kyle re-runs.

I thought Benteke was excellent yesterday but he is so isolated at times. Punch is our number 10 and as such our 2nd striker (lol) but is never close enough to Benteke to take advantage of his aerial power. I seriously doubt whether we will see a Puncheon goal this season

I played football at a semi professional living and watched Palace for 20 years. Wether you agree or not it's an opinion. It shows you how classy you are with your pathetic insult.

Latish in the 2nd half of the Boro game Benteke received the ball in the opposition half with an opportunity to run at goal. However, with the ball at his feet, he looked indecisive - okay he held the ball but was a tad ponderous and in the end laid it off to Townsend who blasted over. Now watch Lukaku scoring the 2nd Everton goal. He powered forward with pace and confidence, knowing exactly what he was going to do, not looking to lay off, shrugged the defender away, and scored.

Benteke is big bloke and I was hoping that he would have more authority and strength on the ball and be harder to shake off in the way Lukaku is.

Again that's a weird view of that situation. He recieved a ball with two defenders in front of him. He created the angle and held them up beautifully for Townsend to overlap. The pass was great, and then he made n excellent run to the back post.

It was a brilliant example of a two on two.

Also, for a bloke who supposedly has crap movement and no strength he manages to find space in the box and awful lot. He also consistently wins headers under pressure. My only criticism yesterday was not doing better with his free header.

Employee of the month is a good example of how someone can be both a winner and a loser at the same time.
