Back to the thread, I'd say the cup win at Tottenham. On the way to Wembley and pardew keeps his job. It's a cliché but the league is our bread and butter. Parish should have stopped the rot far earlier. The f.a.cup clouded his judgement. Hope it doesn't turn into the most expensive mistake he's ever made.

There was another interview where he said players don't get paid what he does because they are not as good as he is. I think that was the turning point

I think the turning point came when Pardew was appointed.
Granted, we got a few good months out of him but when you've planted the seeds you throw away the packet.

In my selective memory, two things happened exactly at the moment the rope snapped:-

1. Yanks invested
2. AP dissed Warnock without provocation.

Not saying either of these had any causal effect, but they were both uncannily coincidental.

We've had no leadership since Jedinak left.

Yes that plus the last August transfer window when we didnt replace Jedi, and get another good LB in. Souare's injury really harmed us.

Pardew believing his own hype in thinking he could manage England one day.

"Look at that. Accident blackspot? These aren't accidents! They're throwing themselves into the road gladly! Throwing themselves into the road to escape all this hideousness!"

Bolasie getting injured at Stoke was what seemed to trigger the downturn in form.

Playing a strong team against Stoke in the FA cup I think came during a packed Christmas period and we looked completely flat for the Villa game shortly after. Hennessey should have been rested for that cup game, dropped the ball in his own net vs Villa.

Issues of squad depth being ignored in the Jan 2016 and Summer 2016 windows. Only been resolved in Jan 17, could be too late as the rot has really set in now.

Selling the best captain I've ever seen.

Smug Pardew and believing our own hype; player, owners, managers and fans.

Both Parish and Pardew fell asleep at the wheel, let the foundations of the side be ripped from under us while they signed players on huge contracts.

He tried to take Parish for a soft touch and came off second best.

If we wanted to keep Pulis we could have, He was under contract and has been loyal everywhere else he has been. We were building something under him just like WBA are now. There were clearly issues and Pulis did get caught telling lies but had we backed him that situation would have never arisen. If Pulis got the backing from the club Pardew did he probably would still be at Palace doing a good job. Parish is learning and i bet he regrets letting Pulis go.
