A bit of a dramatic post.

Were you aware that 93% of the UK is urban, that means not built on by houses, factories roads etc.

So you should be able to find a green field, there is a lot of them about.

I hope not.

We have the lowest productivity levels in Europe.
One of the reasons for poor productivity levels in the UK is the poor infrastructure. Succesive governments have welcomed immigration without any plans to deal with the everyday needs of the population. Short term planning has gone on for decades and we are now paying the price. Blaming the immigrants is only a get out. A long term plan must be made to improve housing, education, health and infrastructure which would benefit the whole population. Admittedly hard to implement but would show that our representatives are working for the good of everyone and not just the City of London

And at what point will enough be enough?
When will roads be too gridlocked, hospitals too full, food water and electricity in too short supply, too few jobs and the countryside too eroded?

It seems your philosophy has no limits on population growth.

His response highlights his stupidity and why I don't engage with him directly any more.

In fact I can recall him raising this pathetic retort on a previous occasion when I pointed out that the majority of the UK geology makes it frankly absolutely impossible to urbanise - mountains, coast, ancient woodland, bogs, marsh, remote islands etc etc.

The remainder could feasibly be built on (and most of it is already) but the green belt is there to protect it from development and to ensure we have land to grow foodstuffs and an environment to promote wildlife.

I won't waste anymore time trying to educate him quite frankly.

I suggest you google "urban" and re-educate yourself!

The problem with planning is that it is usually obsolete by the time it gets around to being realised, especially when one of the factors, namely population, keeps increasing by 300,000 rising, every year.

the amount of bulging brown envelopes that change hands at the planning stage may surprise people.

money talks. Always has....always will.

Go on, edumacate me. What percentage of the uk is geologically not suitable for building on? Geological and geographical if you could seperate it. I'd look it up myself, but apparently I'm 'thick'.
What percentage of potential building sites has no farmland or national park.

Well Einstein, the thing is that the countries infrastructure would be in meltdown decades before we ever built on all the available land.
Have you not noticed that our roads, hospitals, prisons and electricity supply are already under strain.

.... and I've told him on numerous occasions (including my previous post) that I'm not wasting anymore time on him.

The information is out there, in various formats, but I'm not prepared to go to the effort (again) of providing the information just for him to ignore it and revert back to his stance of 2 years ago.

Then the government should invest in them not make swingeing cuts whilst distracting you by saying it's those foreigners fault.

If you assert something but don't back it up it makes one wonder....
