I'd be interested to hear some of your observations on the human condition.

Not sure, but I think it was Philip Larkin who described life as a massive brawl going on with him standing on the fringes of it, throwing back a bottle now and again when one emerged from the melee. Bit like the HOL really.

The human condition is the hubris of belief in a singular truth, and the arrogance of believing ourselves to be special.

That was more metaphorical than metaphysical.

Well that's because I think metaphysics is mostly nonsense, I'm more of a logical positivist.

I'd certainly doubt we are unique but we are fortunate enough to be able to marvel at our own complexity and the fact that such complexity can come from apparent simplicity. If we were to discover why all these thing came to be, I suspect the answer would be far more prosaic than some might hope but none the less remarkable.

Who needs religion.

The unseen is not necessarily absent.

Time for example. Does it actually exist or not?
Gravity? It's all a bit of a mystery

It's not all about ghosts and spoon bending.

I think its more simile than metaphorical, than metaphysical, but not allegorical.

Metaphysical can also apply to qualities in positivism, that are assumed, but not detectable or really quantifiable, especially when they are experienced subjectively.

Happiness, is a metaphysical concept, that it would be illogical to dismiss, but cannot really be discussed or assessed except through metaphysics. Although logical positivists seem to utilise the term hypothetical concept, over metaphysical.

I'm quite happy to dismiss happiness.

That's because they don't want a big maple leaf over their mush.
