Good to hear that this was done without agents and that PVA was intent on moving to Palace! Speaks volumes that he wants to play for Sam and hopefully he can settle in quickly!

Great news although it would probably take van persie and van basten too save us maybe we should have signed van helsing at least he's not afraid of crosses

This little nugget of comedy gold deserved a bigger response than it got. Nice one.

We have been crying out for a left sided defender since Pape fell asleep on the M4. Regardless of whoever we sign this one was a must .

Who was the last player, we signed from Sunderland before PVA?

I think the only other player we have signed from them.

Willo will be rushing to Google!

We got Stan Cummins on a free from Sunderland who I remember played well for us during those dark days of the early eighties. However, a year later he went back home to Sunderland.

Although, staying true to form with all things CPFC & the BBC, this is still not showing in their completed transfers listing.

In all honesty, I'm not happy with this signing, the lad is a dreadful defender and has shown a real lack of effort in the past at Sunderland. I can only hope that playing for a new club sees a change in him

So who would you have signed to cover the left-side?

The guy who Sunderland are buying? Jack Hunt? Someone abroad? Anyone who's salary demands don't denote they'll likely get comfortable after 6 games? Anyone better than Martin Kelly?

That's rather strange the guy has a reputation for playing a high energy game, and the general feeling among Sunderland fans appears to be that he will be hard to replace.
