All good points Dave, my only concern is that we turn into the QPR of a few seasons ago and buy them all and they all turn out to be s***e. Yes Nick, we don't want that, but I don't think Parish would allow that to happen. I think the poster TLC above makes good points about why we are spreading our bets. Bexley Dave Can you hear the Brighton sing? I can't hear a ******* thing! "The most arrogant, obnoxious bunch of deluded little sun tanned, loafer wearing mummy's boys I've ever had the misfortune of having to listen to" (Burnley forum) |

And to think in the January we stayed up the first season, we managed to sign: Ledley, Dann, Hennessey, made Puncheon permanent and Tom Ince. In such an overpriced market, it's disappointing that we can't identify options like those in the Championship or abroad. Instead we still only seem to be in for very expensive PL players. Granted that in the Championship for every Antonio you get a Bamford or Ince but it's the clubs and scouts who know their stuff that get those special few. We have to thank Mr Pulis for that.

We have to thank Mr Pulis for that. He obviously didn't get it all his way the following window but I wonder if McArthur was targeted by Pulis before we actually went out and got him. Something makes me doubt Warnock would have identified McArthur all on his own. Freedman certainly knew a player when he saw one,, I thought Allardyce knew the market better than he's currently showing, given he brought in Kirchoff, Kone and Khazri to keep Sunderland up last year. At least he seems to have identified the weaknesses that Pardew chose to ignore on the left side of our team, though I won't be pleased if we don't also sign a central midfielder.

Have a day off. If we only had a bit more than £10mil to spend you'd have a point. But we don't. We have more. The more we should've used in August that wouldn't have put us in this situation. If we had done that would have been stuck with Pardew signings, and we all know how good he is on transfers !!

Both clubs and players are demanding top dollar as it is January and some don't fancy a relegation battle. So when your club has multiple transfers deals still to be done and with due diligence, it takes time and January is famous for late business deals.

I think there will definitely be one more signing, maybe 2. That the deals have dragged on until the end of the window should surprise no-one, given how we usually go about business and the nature of the window.

According to this: Allardyce to sign 'at least two players' Simon Stone Given their present position in the Premier League’s relegation zone and having a manager who tends to be active in the transfer window, it is hardly a surprise to learn Sam Allardyce could be busy before Tuesday night’s deadline. BBC Sport understands Allardyce expects to sign at least two players, with the possibility of even more players coming into Selhurst Park should some of Allardyce’s current squad leave. Palace are third from bottom of the table and after drawing their first match under Allardyce, have lost four Premier League games in a row. The Eagles have been linked with a host of players, including Sunderland defender Patrick van Aanholt and Norwich midfielder Robbie Brady. Reading between the lines - Allardyce is expecting to sign two players, and perhaps more if he is able to sell some of the current squad.
