As I have already said in response to a similar comment, on another thread, IF we are relegated it won't be like the previous occasions. There's some really big money in play this time, so who knows what will happen at board-level? We have investors now who are likely to have a lot less patience than the benevolent owners of the past or those who bought the club in 2010.

Our infrastructure is worse than most Championship clubs and is more League One in reality. If we go down this season, we'll have nothing whatsoever to show for four years in the PL. No renewal work at Selhurst Park, no significant improvements at Beckenham and a homeless academy. We're not a Newcastle, or even a Norwich, and the chances of us 'bouncing back' anytime soon would be bleak indeed.

Without the PL money we won't be able to even do the essential work to the Main Stand and there's going to come a time when it (or parts of it) would have to be taken out of use. Unlike our friends on the south coast and in the frozen north east, we don't attract full houses outside the PL, just the opposite in fact. We'd lose every decent player we have and be left with those who everyone currently thinks need replacing.

So to those pining for the Championship and, quite possibly beyond, be careful what you wish for.

Good post. I believe if we were to get relegated (God forbid), the Americans would take their money back in return of giving their stakes back to Parish or even look to sell their shares of the club.

Surely they don't want investment in a championship club (if we went down) and they don't seem the type to stick around and wait for promotion (which would take years).

I just hope we do stay up so none of this happens.

Me too, and I'm not thinking that we won't at this early stage with SA only here a month and the window still open. My post was merely a response to the minority who seem to have a blasé attitude to relegation, because my feeling is that it will be less than pretty this time.

As I posted elsewhere a week or so ago our Season will now turn on the following games
Sunderland
Middlesborough
Watford
Leicester
Burnley
Hull
All home games against close rivals.
I would go so far as to say that we need to win every one of them as that will give us 34 points and at the same time will push the others deeper in to the abyss.
I am sure Sam will be targeting those games and it will be up to us the Fans to be positive throught them to help the team achieve maximum points!

Winning them all is a near on impossible task.

Come on brother, no disrespect, but we have only won 4 league games ALL season!!!
On current form we might get one win!
Sorry, have lost confidence watching this group of overpaid so called footballers, but I really hope you're right.
Championship football is getting closer as each week goes by.
At least we can see them win a few more games!

I have to agree, even BFS has admitted he doesn't think he'll be able to do so. Given the time frame I think he needs a miracle or two!! But the current players need to up their game as a team and individually.

What are you basing your statement that they don't look the type "to stick around and wait for promotion" on

More accurately is 'most likely won't stick around'. They're in it to make a profit and they won't do that outside the PL. I'd be surprised if they didn't sell their holding if we go down.
