I agree we are better off cashing in and upping our bids for Brady/Van Aanholt/Snodgrass et al.

The market here is very inflated hence why they are considering players from abroad.

Allardyce's three main signings at Sunderland were all from abroad.

It's such a strange one. We all thought it was a great deal when we bought him and now he's going to be sold back to them for less!

Plus Gayle has been an absolute steel.

Hindsight would say crazy crazy. But at the time it looked like Palace that got the best deal.

Think we should sell him. Get his wages off the books and get Brady who can actually play on the left and interchange with Schlupp.

Jenkinson and Wilf on the right.

Just need some central reinforcement in the middle field and or defence

Good points. Is just possible that Norwich might sell Brady as they are not doing great in the championship. No chance that Sunderland will sell Van Aanholt or Hull Snodgrass or Livermore, since that would undermine their own struggles with relegation

Is this still just a rumour?
Whatever happens we need to free up space in the squad and wages.
Mutch etc. won't be let go until we are in a position to replace them but Townsend going would be brilliant news!

Why would Newcastle even entertain this on current form? If he goes we should get every penny back, such a disapointment.

To be fair it must be a nightmare with ward and Kelly behind you as fullbacks, they don't even go over the halfway line! Hope he comes good!

Let Geordies have Dross Townsend back but only in a swap deal for Dwight Gayle who we should never had sold in the first place. If not then they pay the full price we paid no discount. Bet we give him away cheapply as is our way.

I'd go for that!! Can't see it though...the guy's absolutely smashing the top scorer list.

I like it when he:

a) demands to play on the right wing
b) gets his opportunity
c) takes the ball past the defender
d) realises he can't cross with right foot
e) cuts back to use left
f) defender knows this and dispossess him
g) Puts hands on hips, puffs his cheeks out and looks confused
h) repeats 10 times per match

Such is the life of the 'inverted winger' CE. Apparently they can only do anything useful if a full-back overlaps them. Alternatively, of course, they could play on the same side as their footedness and just cross the ball in, and this wouldn't preclude an overlap, but doesn't make it a necessity.
