I wonder how many of the fans of longstanding have still retained their wooden rattles - wonderful contraptions.

Yes I have a wooden rattle but it is stored away in my loft along with my fedora and a number of rosettes.

But I'm really struggling with the current run/set up - I'm going to give myself a good talking to tomorrow, but just don't feel the same for the Bolton game on Tuesday. Which makes me very sad.

I just want to see whoever plays giving 100%. Can get my head around any results if they do that.

Agree with the above, Old Fella.

There are more and more players creeping into our team who openly
don't give 100%. I say openly, they're just playing football. But you can tell by their body language that the full time result sometimes
isn't really worth going that extra mile for. Is it coincidence that these
players have come from much bigger and more successful teams than little old Crystal Palace?

Cabaye and Townsend are far superior players to Shaun Derry and Clint Hill but I know which ones had more pride wearing the red and blue.

My first game was Palace v Acrington Stanley (was that 9-2 ?).
I feel privileged to have seen so many great players over the years, many in our shirts.
I thought perhaps I was the only one who frets over Saturdays.
I look forward to the weekend so much... nervous of course but usually positive and thankful that my team is different. But it hurts so much when we play badly... weekend is ruined & I'm down for days.

My last game was Swansea Home and I was in the Holmesdale Lower. We were poor first half but I was appalled at the booing of our own players at half-time. Is this support??? It was certainly support for the oppo. I don't want to be in a crowd like that.
So now (even though it's an easy trip) I'd rather watch via media than travel to the ground.
Watching the Wet Spam game wasn't great. I wondered what a difference Wilf would have made.
It seems things are conspiring against us ... even a car crash!
But we have been lucky.... we're not quite in the zone yet. That's amazing considering our results.
Anyway COYP

We move in the direction of our thoughts.
Just think a little.

Of course, that too is probably my favorite part of the day, the football just happens to be our excuse to do what we do, with selhurst being our place of worship. Seems to be more of a sacrilege now though, and the feeling at 5PM unfortunately has now offset the build up that proceeds KO. I'm bored of having that same feeling, that same conversation, not because I cant deal with losing runs of games, but due to the nature of those losses being the same every week-there's nothing new to reflect on. That and the fact I now feel like I'm ''losing'' my £50 a month DD to football, I could be spending that money (and time) elsewhere.

One thing that never gets old for me is walking down behind the Holmesdale after the game with a mix of people going in either direction and the occasional yell of "EAGLES" dotted amongst the crowd, and again at Selhurst station when I am with a lazy person that can't be bothered to walk back to East Croydon. The day I don't yell EAGLES at random (sometimes mid conversation with someone) is the day I'll feel like I have given up on the match day experience.

What with getting older, the train strikes, and days like Saturday when you have to wait for 30 minutes outside a station surrounded by police and horses when you're back and feet are killing you and you've just watched a load of overpaid prima donnas not even bother to come over to the few of you that are still there after most of our "great" support have buggered off after 80 minutes, yeah I'm beginning to wonder who the mug is in all of this.

Bit like England games nowadays. I couldn't give a toss because they don't either and the FA are laughing at the supporters.

I'll be there Saturday and I'll renew my season ticket next year, but I don't look forward to games any more (except a 3 o'clock Saturday kick off which is when it should be) and it's only a matter of time before the effort isn't worth it any more.

Living down here does have some advantages. At least you can see them cry.

Being Honest i much prefer away games, Always have and probably always will.
Its the whole match day experiance meeting up with mates for breakfast, into away territory early doors for a few hours of drinking and watching the pub fill up with the regular away fans, taking over the pub then walking on mass to the ground. The intensity was much better in the 80's the atmosphere and edge that it could kick off at any second.

Agree with the other posters who have replied to my earlier post. I am really going to miss it over the summer. It's a bit of escapism once a week / fortnight. First away game was at west ham on Saturday and I have the bug. Want to go to other grounds now. Also agree with people regarding R he way we are playing. If we are going to go down at least go down f***ing fighting and say we have our all rather than give up!

I first watched Palace in 1953; for personal reasons I was only an occasional visitor for much of the 70s and 80s; but I have been almost ever-present for the past 30 years and a season ticket holder for about 20.

For what it's worth, I have no wish to see Sam go (ridiculous suggestion), and I guess that we'll stay up.

But rather than looking forward to games, I now almost dread them. Over the years we've all known what it's like to come out of Selhurst Park fed up and bad tempered (many, many times), but within a couple of days we feel up for it again. No longer true. I didn't want to go to the Swansea game, and the first half that day absolutely sickened me. Yesterday was another kick in the guts and next Saturday is already looming like a big black cloud.

Some may accuse me of disloyalty and having a weak stomach, but despite all the Palace disappointments I've suffered over 60 years, I've never felt the sadness and disconnection with the club that I feel now. But I'll be there next Saturday.

Its a part of it, the suffering. Nothing in recent years has come close to Hillsborough, truth be told. I try to make a day of it though, meet up with a few people I might otherwise never have known, have a few beers with them (and then a few more) and catch the last fast train home.

That way, at least, win or lose, there is always something special in the trip to Selhurst park. Its not really about the game, its the people, the atmosphere and the belonging (along with overpriced beer in the Red and Blue bar, finding someone else in your seat in the AW, crammed in shoulder to shoulder with 5000 or so other people in the same misery, hoping for that special moment, that turns everything into joy.

Then being to drunk to get the key in the front door, busting for a piss, terrorfied that you're not going to make it to the bog in time.

This, more than anything. I hate late kick offs, and early kick offs and detest Sunday games. What I miss most from the championship, is that apart from a few games a season, you've got a date with the palace at the perfect time (early kick off = 'all day drinking', evening kick off, not enough drinking time, and Sunday is a school night) - But 3pm kick offs are perfect.

F**king run up to Christmas, every bloody game was on TV.
