I hate to worry you all.... But we need a completely new defence (as well as strengthening midfield with a ball winner and a striker that can actually score!)

Hennessey was only another contributory factor in all 3 goals.

The first goal was his worst effort, but the defenders/midfield were also to blame for conceding it.

He had no chance with the 2nd but Ward could have got closer to Carroll, like Antonio did to Benteke earlier.

The 3rd goal was a fcuking shambles... we had possession on their goal line and allowed Lanzini to sprint the length of the pitch and chip it over Hennessey FFS.

Big Sam/Little Sam have a monumental task on their hands to sort the team out.

I don't expect to see immediate improvement it is so bad, but by February... IF we can get in a few more tidy players and the coaching methods kick in.

Scott Dann has gone from being a potential England prospect to a liability of late.

Luckily the 3 clubs below us have some tough fixtures coming up, so we should not lose much ground whilst we rebuild our bunch of misfits into a winning team.

At least we know that Jules cares about the club, not sure Wayne is showing the same devotion at the moment. All keepers make mistakes but yesterday especially with the first goal and the incident in the first half he looked like a Sunday morning keeper. The third goal wasn't too good either, how do you chip a 6'5" keeper, easy wait for him to commit early, faced with those situations Wayne does not stand tall for long enough to put the oppo player in two minds thus giving him a better chance of a save.
Given these facts Jules should get the No1 shirt back, which he actually has(as per programme).I think that he is a calming influence and the back four know his game set up much better than Waynes.

I don't know why Speroni was replaced but that he is considered good enough for the bench would maybe say he is not past it and to be honest could not be any worse than WH who is a (I thought he had turned the corner with some good performances before Christmas) disaster waiting to happen .
Put Jules back in and prove the doubters wrong

Whatever happens in the future, I shall remember Jules' clean sheet last week.

Agreed. Again yesterday Ward at left back was all over the place and constantly giving the ball away as well as defending badly. He needs to fight for the right back position only. The sooner we get a left back (I think Schlupp is left midfield) and a further cover player for left back the better. Still think Ward with Kelly as cover is good enough but if Jenkinson comes in all the better? Still out on Tomkins, but I suppose he is good cover for Dann and Delaney? Also need to find a new captain as Dann has suffered with his form since being given it? Basically we need a constant back four with players playing in there rightful positions?

... against a League 1 side. Hoofhearted summed up the situation nicely.

We keep conceding too nay goals to balls played over the top The marking isn't tight enough. There's no closing down or pressing. We have too many Championship-level players, and those that are Premier-level (too few) don't seem to care greatly. WH made a mistake coming out for the first goal, but where was Ward for the second, and the whole defence for the 3rd?

WH was poor for the first and third goals i thought keepers made themselves big he made himself small. He is still our best fit keeper until Speroni proves me wrong on Tuesday fingers crossed.

Sorry but like many other players he's sh!t at present.

Its pathetic - they get paid millions and we make excuses their confidence is down ... oh poor f**king lambs ...

Try working a bit harder and for each other ...

I do think the sentiment about us signing big names is one to think about. Burnley, Bournemouth, WBA, they don't have superstars

Time to build a team of guys with something to prove.

We had that team, its when a manager tries to improve it,that it can go tits up.

Pulis purchased Wayne but this made Jules improve.Wayne was back up.

Pardew did not rate Wayne or Jules so he purchased Mccarthy who did so so then went to pot.

Wayne got back in but Pardew purchased Mandanda now injured.

Wayne now a liability so do we go back to Jules.?

Possibly he is the best of the lot.?

Unfortunately he has never filled me with any confidence. It's ok to come out but for fcuk sake come out with some conviction. Everything he does is half hearted and almost cowardly. We have conceded so many goals because of his shall I Sharnt I decision making.

Spot on. He is a wimp. Also has a mistake in him every game. Unfortunatly for us he gets punished for it nearly every time.He is not a Premier league standard keeper.

Yes. And the lack of pace and mobility n the back four is obviously a concern. Generally, across the pitch we are less than impressive when the opposition have possession.

So will we seeing that is at least the third thread where you've posted the exact same line.

Anyway as Hoof has intimated goalkeeper is only part of the problem. Defensively we are just bloody awful. Damo is shot, yes he has the heart but he is not good enough, Dann, is a good CB and certainly good enough starter but I've always said he is overrated by most Palace fans. Remember the Dann for England shouts?

What currently concerns me most is we look even less organised than under Pardew. I thought the one thing Allardyce would bring is discipline without the ball.

the dignified don't even enter in the game

We are now not that good when we have possession either. BFS has made the players nervous about going forward.
