Nicola Ventola was good at Inter.
Came on loan? Played about three/four matches then buggered off to Bergamo to play for Atalanta. Nice town actually.
Tomas Brolin now looks like the Puft Marshmallow man but he was good at Parma.
Benteke? I'd prefer Divok Origi.

Well said

The threads a bit of fun and Bentekes inclusion was worthy due to his price tag

Neil Ruddock. Awful signing.

Not sure the transfer fee was, if ever it was disclosed, but however much it was he wasn't worth it. He was known to be on big wages at the time too.

And BIG shorts.

Lots of these names are not big money signings.
Big wages I suppose.
Numerous names signed by Steve Coppell.
Just shows you this Transfer business is not easy.

The problem with big players at a club like Palace, is that they all think they are too good for Crystal Palace and are either using us as a stepping stone or just here take a big salary. They don't care.

Any big signing we've made doesn't come close to Jedinak, Shaun Derry, Delaney, Ambrose, Murray, Peter Ramage, Speroni, Dean Austin etc. None of them may not be technically gifted players, but they worked hard all game and would have died for Palace.

Those getting excited about the possibility of Evra arriving really don't have a clue how a club like Palace works.

Hard work, teamwork, courage, grit and determination is what has made Palace a success in the past. Overpaid individuals never has. We're not a big enough club for that.

I'd say the only managers that have understood that in recent times is probably Dougie Freedman and Neil Warnock. Not suggesting either of these would be right for the job now, but sacking AP and replacing with SA will not change anything unless the right players are identified - and the attribute he should be looking at is not skill or individual talent - it's simply leadership skills and determination.

Agree 100% - and there lies the problem right there! As I said before on another thread - as soon as they see our training facilities, home ground and the surrounding area - Norwood Junction, Thornton Heath & Croydon - their arseholes either go or they think f*ck this!!! I bet some of them have hated it!

Yes, we need fighters to fight for us as a team for 90 mins.

What do we hope to achieve my constantly knocking him, the new manager and everyone else who (despite what we might think) are actually trying to turn this around?

Run around a bit? Jump for the odd winnable ball?

I agree with you though that there is a confidence factor

Agree, that is our heritage. Sadly though that is not enough in this league.

Remember during our promotion season, you could go on twitter and you could see Rambo, Delaney, Moritz, Jedinak etc posting pictures just doing simple things like having a coffee together in a cafe.

That kind of team spirit / bonding just doesn't exist in the PL once big signings and loadsamoney comes on board for a club like Palace.

We were actually ticking along quite nicely before the Americans came on board with money. We might not have stayed in the PL forever but at least the heartbeat of the club would remain.

Really, is promotion to the PL really that great?

I always thought Gabiadini got a lot of stick when he was a good player. He also scored in our win at Anfield. Padovano would be on my list. Scored 2 goals away to Tonbridge and Leicester.

It is the be all and end all for the younger fans as status is everything. The media focus on the Premier league like there's no other leagues worthy of column inches. All about money and to be honest I'd feel quite relieved if we got relegated now. Get back to our roots, get our identity back and go again! Be nice to win a few games too ... imagine that eh! Haha
