You're not Dutch and if you are you're talking nonsense. Must be an Ajax fan, because Depay did at PSV something bloody impossible for a 19 year old: 39 goals and 18 assists (57 in total) in 5.800 minutes.
That's a goal or assist per every 100 minutes, for a really long time of playing.

He dribbles too much? Well, these are all contributions to actual goals besides the dribbling

So he was good in the Dutch league and a total disappointment in the Prem?

Being good in one league doesn't mean it will work in the Prem. Roberto Soldado was a beast in Spain, and forgettable in the Prem.

The best predictor of how Depay would do in the Prem, is how he has played in the Prem, not 2 years ago in a weak league.

He may turn out well, but Palace isn't the kind of club that can gamble that kind of money on a possible wash-out.

Why was he a TOTAL disappointment? Started off really good, then kind of faded away in a Man Utd team that didn't find itself. He had some good moments too. Made a penalty I think and got relegated to the bench, never came back on.

Maybe Utd doesn't play him cause they got Martial, Mkhitarian, Pogba, Rooney, Mata and Rashford behind the striker.

But if he didn't get into this Man Utd team, does it mean he's not Premier League material?

Nope, it means we don't know --it does seem like he's not top 6 material. Benteke is still seen as a Liverpool flop, and he still got a lot of goals for them in limited playing time.

Depay could be good, and I suspect he'll have to move to a mid-table team to get starting time and prove it. Unfortunately we're no longer a mid-table team (if we ever were), and even if we could convince him to sign with us, it would cost too much to risk.

Assuming we stay up, and Depay doesn't get sold, I'd rather have a go at signing him in the summer. He will be desperate to play and we'd be able to plan the money side of it better than now.

Gladly! It's just a forum man, you know. Different opinions. It's nice to see people not getting all twitchy once in a while when someone disagrees

On subject: I don't think Depay would be a gamble. You know what you're getting. An extremely young player with the prospect of becoming one of the best players in the Premier League.
He's not going to score 17 goals in the next 17 matches. That's not what the fee is for. You know you're getting a player with one of the biggest potentials in the world.

I mean, come on, Everton is paying for Lookman 11 million pounds. And Lookman hasn't done in League 1 what Depay has done in the Eredivisie.

That's why I said that even for 15-18 million, he'd still be a bargain.

But it's not like Depay would save you from relegation. You know what you're buying: a player for the future. And ow is the time, you won't be able to get him in the summer if he now signs for another team.

What would actually be harder is convincing him to come to Palace. He has offers from far better teams, like Milan and Roma, but they don't have money to buy him. The English money$$ might keep him in the PL, if someone offers him a good wage.

Like you, you mean, when asked perfectly reasonable questions?

If you come to a fork in the road, take it.

So, there you go again.

Asking how you know that 200+ players are all unhappy is dumb?

Surely, making a claim you cannot substantiate is dumb. Responding with abuse when asked, is dumb.

Ultimately, what you're really admitting is that you're a bulls*** artist who looks stuff up and claims to know things like future transfer values, and a player's state of mind. When asked how you know, you get shirty. You're actually sadly funny.

It's like reading the Romanian version of Willo. Except he's affable.

IMO he's well overpaid and would bring an ego to the dressing room we don't need for the relegation battle we've got on our hands in the next few months.

I don't have to know if they're unhappy or not. What kind of question is that? It's a dumb question, that's what it is. You insisting so much on this subject is dumb. Why does it matter if they're unhappy?

There are many players who would come to the Premier League just for the wages or the publicity or just to play in the Premier League. It doesn't matter if they're happy or unhappy.
If some of the players I know don't play as often as they used to and are substitutes now, then the clubs are willing to sell them for a cheaper price than normally.
When you have a budget, say like 30 million for winter transfers, you have to know these things. You have to choose the best AND least expensive players.

You keep on insisting on how I know they're unhappy.....
I never said I do, I said that these are good options for the club. That's what we do here, present options, analyze them, talk about players.
