It won't be a problem for us if we get relegated as none of these players are unlikely to want to stay.

He's got a brilliant attitude. He works hard, gets lumps kicked out of him, he gets up again and he keeps trying difficult moves when everyone else just takes the easy option. I don't think its going too far to say I love him!! I like WZ a lot, and agree he gets fouled more than most - but this is something he doesn't do. If he's fouled, or believes he's been fouled, he sits on the ground and moans - or spends 2 minutes muttering and seemingly distracted by it. Yes, we'll be shouting at the officials from the stands, but he needs to get up and go again. As for his difficult moves, all well and good when they come off, but when they don't he does need to chase back. sometimes he needs to take the easy option.

I think he's an ungrateful little c*nt with a sh*t attitude! We took him back from Man U and resurrected his career and you can tell his focus is on furthering his career, which is fair enough but I don't think he'll shed a tear for us if we go down. Buffering off to a bob tournament is nothing more than self promotion and getting his profile raised. Yeah, he's been good this season but hate the way we all know that even if we were to stay up! Depressing when you can't keep your best players and makes progressing virtually impossible. Or maybe he thinks if he goes and has good tournament then he'll get to play in a World Cup with Ivory Coast. You only get one career.

I know we don't want it, and I certainly hope it doesn't happen. But... - He is now a fuller player than before. He creates chances, challenges back, scores (wonder) goals. And all this would happen whilst earning more! If you forget you a Palace fan for one minute and review his position objectively, I don't think we could argue against a move. And I think we owe him the chance now. When a footballer looks back at their career they will have wanted to have won things. And Wilf is good enough for that. I think it would be unfair to deny him that chance (he must be emotionally drained trying to win us games to be continually let down by team mates). Let's hope all managers forget about players in the African Cup of Nations (out of sight, out of mind) He is just too good for us Footnote: Last nights goal reminded me a little of the Moses overhead. And look at him now! (although it took him a while to get there and I think Wilf is far more ready) I disagree that we "owe" any player anything, except their contracted wages. Players' "loyalty" - quite rightly - it to which ever club will pay them most money (subject perhaps to geographical and family considerations); and as players develop, that will normally entail changing clubs. Clubs' "loyalty" to players - again quite rightly - lasts for as long as they think those players can do a satisfactory job for them at an acceptable pay rate. There's no more room for sentiment than in any other industry.

I guess what I was saying was that we "as fans" (and not the employing club) can't and shouldn't expect him to stay if opportunity arises. Fans have sentiment. You are right of course, in terms of contracts, the market will dictate what happens
Now here's Wright, his first chance to see what he can do, and he's through, it's Wright, ohhhh what an impact by the substitute. And it's Ian Wright who's sent the Palace fans into ecstasy! |

He does spend a lot of time appealing. I wonder sometimes if he could do ore to stay on his feet. But, boy, what a talent. I remember Don Rogers (saw hi score in an away game at Notts Forest) and Wilf makes him look like a white man from the 1970s. I like the fact that he tries things. Nobody invents the perfect product at the first attempt.

Perhaps if he'd been more consistent, played with a bit more intelligence re deciding when to cross / shoot, not fallen over quite so easily, not spent half the game arguing with officials, he'd have been picked by England and this wouldn't be an issue. By choosing to change to the IC he's putting his career ahead of the club who have given him that career.

If wilf goes it's because we haven't kept up with him, & so good luck. Completely understandable when in championship & man u come in for him, but a little bit unacceptable now we're into our 4th season in premier & are lagging behind his talent. Edited by Terry Vegetables (04 Jan 2017 5.02pm)

He won't be going anywhere till at least the summer, that's what I've been told by someone who's in the know at the club.

Based on the horrors of 2016 and so far in 2017 it would indeed be insane for him to stay. But there is a clear objective case that can persuade him to stay. My view is that Spurs sometimes need width but they aren't built to play with it. They are great at pressing and great at quick, intricate passing through teams. Particularly when they dispossess teams. So I think if he went there he could be their plan b. But their plan a is a very effective one and Wilf may not flourish as --potentially -- an impact player who isn't always starting. This is especially true insofar as he may find himself used as an option against sides where Spurs are trailing. Ie decent sides where Spurs are struggling to dominate. I think they would need an overhaul to accommodate him week in, week out. They might do that but they might not. Joining a lesser club than Spurs is pointless. He may as well stay here if: *We learn to do what Allardyce wants, namely playing to our strengths, covering up our weaknesses, and scoring 1 more than the opposition *sign players who give him the ball more frequently in dangerous positions The premier league is now such a cash cow that clubs like Palace will own players like Wilf. It's why Swansea have Sigurdsson
If you want to live in a world full of kindness, respect and love, try to show these qualities. |

In which case we'd never have got him back from the manure and wouldn't be discussing the issue. But as it stands this will be his best chance of maybe getting to play in a World Cup tournament. After all he's had to put up with dragging this lot back into games every week the AFCoN will seem like a holiday. Good luck to him.
