Exactly my feelings. At the end I remarked to my neighbour that I'm now so accustomed to losing (and deserving to lose) that I hardly care. Terrible thing to say after 60+ years of supporting them. I'm not upset, just numb. Agreed. I'm a ST holder and made the decision not to undertake the three hour journey each way in favour of keeping up on the match thread. That was equally depressing, and for the first time this season, looked at our fixtures wondering where the next point would come from. If I was SA, I would have all players in the office, individually, and ask them to justify their wages, then send them home with instructions to provide a written statement of how they propose to improve their performance. Pressure on the players is what is required. Meanwhile, let's see how the junior players perform against Bolton.

In all of the years I have been at Palace, I have never seen so much anger and hatrid towards the manager and players together as there was at half time. I am still in shock today. I heard several fans shouting 'f.off back to West Ham' at Half Time, wholesale boos, chants of 'what the f.ing h.ll was that' and then a poster saying something along the lines of we don't want your corruption at this club. Then players getting verbally abused at the end. I mean, really! I thought this club was proud of having some of the best supporters and last night went completely against the ethos of the club. Yes it was terrible and yes I am concerned and I understand supporters have a right to be frustrated and angry but I think that was too far. I really hope the next match, we have something to get behind and the players put in more effort as that sort of support yesterday will harm our club if it continues

What people fail to realise is that the referee last night was appalling! Who is Paul Tierney?? He should not be refereeing kids in a park let alone a premier league game..two blatant penalties....you can't be playing against 12 ...total CHEAT ...yes CHEAT! It would have been a different score line with someone else in charge!

Just to stop booing them at every opportunity would be a start FFS. This team is going to need a lot of encouragement to get them back to winning ways. Get behind the team and the Big Sam. It was only at half time by more than half of the Holmesdale and a few at full time, not every minute. Even Townsend's substitution was silent apart 10 boos.

We can't control what happens on the pitch, but we can control what happens in the stands. As bad as the team performed last night we as fans were worse in my opinion! That's not us, booing and singling players out. The season we came up we was getting spanked week in week out but we still got behind the team. When the opposition scored we got louder ffs!! The players need us more than ever now!!

It might be a bit of a chicken and egg situation we wait for the players to show something and then we support better but possibly if we could support no matter how frustrating the game, perhaps we could help turn around our fortunes sooner rather than too late. Sounds ideal but in reality it is quite rare. Also the sound of home fans turning on their own team must be music to the oppos ears, half time team talk sorted.

If so then it's Championship football here we come already as everyone would've thrown the towel in

Surely the speaker system is broken? The only way to save the atmosphere from going the same way as every other PL atmosphere is for some organisation. The HF have done well and kept some embers burning throughout this torrid time, but actual stuff needs to be done. Almost no fans sing alone. But if those around me are shousing their heads off, so will I.

Been giving some thought to this over lunch. I think that a huge part of our problem at the moment is player's confidence. This has been eroded to nothing over the past year to the point where they (seem to) expect to lose every league game. Whilst the Southampton result was seen as fortuitous they did pick up a bit but after that the stitch up at Hull took the edge off it. Next up Manure & Chelski & we're back to where they were again. Now I get that the fans can't give them confidence but we can give them support & encouragement. That could, in turn, help improve performances, then results, then belief & confidence. For years now we've prided ourselves on being a united club & have (probably) over-achieved at times so now is hardly the time to start dishing out grief. Evolution, in footballing terms, is far faster than at any time before & we need to understand there is no instant fix to any given situation. Just look at Newcastle, a new manager (too late) & £60m spent in January wasn't enough to save them but if you talk to their fans many will point to their worst spell of the season where the crowd were constantly on the player's backs. If they'd got Rafa in sooner & turned the crowd then it may well have been different for them. Hard though it is, the lads need their '12th man' more now than any time since 2010. Edited by Nobbybm (04 Jan 2017 2.21pm) All sound points and I don't really disagree with anything you say, but this would be more relevant if we were on, say, a 6 match losing streak. We've been so bad for so long that even an extraordinarily patient fanbase like our's is going to snap eventually. The first half performance was possibly the worst I've ever seen at Selhurst and that is saying something. Once the team actually started to play football in the second half, the crowd got behind them. There's only so many punches we fans can take before we fall to the ground.

I understand that our poor performances have left everyone frustrated but constantly swearing at players and booing the team isn't going to help anything. Players need encouragement especially when playing badly, the amount of players that have said that cheering/singing from fans when they have been poor has helped them shows that good support is more important than most people think. Our fans last night were pretty dissapointing, the booing at half time, the what the f*cking hell was that chant, the sarcastic oles, the constant swearing at players and booing of Townsend especially and Kelly when they came off were awful and if it keeps up it may damage the confidence of certain players. Everyone has a right to express their dissatisfaction with the team but I thought last night was a bit too extreme. It's times like these where we really need to get behind the team
