I'm prepared to give BFS a chance as he has inherited a squad bereft of confidence and hit by injuries. But what I could not understand last night was when we could all see it was not going well after the opening 15 minutes why he did not stand on the sidelines are start trying to give some of the under performing players a rocket and instructions on how to change what was going wrong.
If only ???? |

Maybe the players are working to rule in sympathy with RMT and ASLEF.

Nobody's perfect boys - when you consider what CPFC2010 have done for this club to blame Parrish for 'getting us into this mess' is incredible - toys out of pram - the appointment of Pardew kept us up don't forget although SP maybe hung onto him for too long but professor hindsight is the world's cleverest person. All the sides around us have taken turns to be awful, now it's our turn and it won't last. Agree 1st half was shocking, Townsend is going through the motions, little or no cohesion or initiative shown by the players - bit unlucky to lose after improving 2nd half though Swansea had the ball for nearly three minutes b4 they scored. Their fans were class, and maybe we made their side look good but they have a decent squad on paper and they had a good team on grass last night. Things can change very quickly, esp if Sam gets a few players in to not only improve the squad but to increase competition for places - our flaky wingers need to be dropped once and a while so they have to fight their way into the team - Punch, Wilf and Townsend have it to themselves and that's no good. We're not in the bottom three, we have a man recently considered good enough for England at the helm - we've been rather s***e lately, but the idea that Parrish has led us into a 'mess' is so wide of the mark it's pathetic.

Yes definitely the worst since that 4-1 reverse against Fulham, but I wouldn't blame Big Sam for last night. He's inherited a mess. Lazy players who couldn't give a toss, other players who are mentally feeble and frail. This squad is pathetic and Sam needs time to clear out the dead wood and bring in some quality and some steel. Some of the players are an absolute embarrassment to the club. Edited by fed up eagle (04 Jan 2017 7.00pm)

Ollie was way out of his depth when we got promoted. He brought in 13 or so new players and where are they now ? Our squad is way better than that now, even though a fair few aren't up to it. Not as bad as those days. However it was worrying to see us not take something from a game against a struggling side when in the past such as Cardiff and Norwich we have got a result. We are now looking at 24 points from a probable 12 games, 2 a game which will be nigh on impossible. Our only hope is the 3 below us. This must be the toughest escape we have ever had in our recent PL history. Can be done though.

I completely support big Sam and believe he can turn the mess that Pardew left behind around. However I must say Campbell and Sako were arguably our best and most passionate players bar Zaha against Swansea. I hate all the negativity around Palace at the moment, take a look back at the past 10 - 15 years, we've been in worse situations and I wonder where those supporters who backed us through all that have gone? Im sorry mate , Zaha was hardly passionate against Swansea this so called " world class " player was nowhere in the first half , slightly better second half and scored a great goal . But this was Swansea , how does Zaha do against the top clubs ??? . Yes hes nowhere to be seen , and THATS why Man U got rid because Man U have a plan that involves playing the best ( Champions League ) etc .

Your post gives a rose tinted view of Parish,I am pleased that he is the Palace chairman and even more pleased that he along with the other guys saved our club.If you ignore the managerial appointments, fair enough but his expertise is in marketing and has zero expertise in football knowledge as opposed to running a football club which on the whole he has done well. Some of the transfer business has been appalling with obvious defects in a scouting system. The appointment of Moody who was a failure in transfers at relegated Cardiff who then did the same to us with Mutch and Campbell.Made his own personal signings of Jimmy Kebe and Sako a Parish signing not Pardews. Apparently Allardyce is leaving transfers to Parish so does this mean more Poundland signings. Try and look at our squad objectively and recognise the wasted millions and players that have to be replced. Steve Parish loves the club and is scared of taking us into administration again. I would not swap him but let us not cloud our love of the man without ignoring his faults.

I was calling for Campbell to come on last night but I wanted it to be with Benteke (unfortunately he was injured). If the players were going to insist upon lumping hapless balls up to him, at least then there would be someone to try and get on the end of the flick ons he was still winning consistently. He was on for 45 mins yesterday and still won more headers than anyone else on the pitch (equal with Llorente). Do I think he has done enough to justify a £30m price tag? No not really. But the main problem last night wasn't his lack of effort. It was that the rest of the team seemed intent on bypassing the midfield and just hoofing it at every opportunity (and according to the press conference that was against BFS's wishes). It was predictable and easy to defend.

I agree with you and definitely don't think Zaha is world class but at the same time we rely too heavily on him and I'm sure that will have an impact on his performances. He will be marked out of games and kicked about and we can't expect him to do everything for us
