He's a keeper. Match rusty maybe, but then why's he on the bench if he isn't able to play at a moments notice?

Probably because we haven't got any other keepers.

Wife beating may be socially acceptable in Sheffield, but it is a different matter in Cheltenham

He only had 4 games in France where he might have to do some something, PSG and Monaco.

Can't imagine why. All he has to do is pick the ball out of the net 3 or 4 times each match.

Not a big fan, never trust a keeper who punches. Prefer Hennessey.

Worth keeping for competition as I'm not sure if Speroni is up to it anymore.

Unfortunately he seems to have figured out that the 4 in front of him will offer him precious little help, and the goalkeeping coach here just isn't up to scratch.

It is an embarrassment to our Club that someone so overweight can even be considered as a viable option as a football coach.

We should be convincing him to stay, especially as he is far superior to Hennessey in presence, command of his area and decision making and the only person in our squad who is truly Captain material.

sorry regal but you cant blame average form from a goalkeeper inhis 30's who won french goalie of the year a few times on our gk coach as hes overweight.

just out of interest what do you think about the overweight BFCS. managing the team?

Are you talking specifically goal keeping or any coach. Bob Paisely wasn't exactly skinny, Jock Stein had more chins than a Chinese phone book, Toshack one Welsh Rarebit too many etc etc.

Is there an age limit for a coach?

Reports that he is heading back. If true, let's hope we at least get all our money back.

He signed on a free, so no money to recoup.

Mandanda is clearly a world class keeper, but he's been the last man standing behind a defence about as stout and credible as Peter Sutcliffe's.

Anyone who thinks he's a poor goalkeeper is talking complete sh*t.

that why he was not first choice at PSG!

Apart from the reported fee, the signing payments to him, and his salary, but apart from all of the he cost us nothing...

Think we were sold a dud.

Not being disrespectful to Mandanda, but he has been linked to the so called bigger premiership clubs for years & not one of these teams took a gamble on him.

But good luck if he leaves Palace.

It's not entirely the goalkeeping coaches' fault for the sub-average form of our 2 goalkeepers, a lot of the blame has to go towards the Defenders in front of him, and in turn their coaching. A goalie is only as good as the men in front of him allow him to be.

Mandanda started off positively and made some great saves. He gave us that moment of what Jules was trying to do all those years ago with the ball at his feet. Since then though, with our change of style to passing the ball out - which will always lead to mixups whilst getting used to the system (ideally minimised by GOOD coaching, I might add) and a number of individual mistakes in front of him, has lead to his dip in form.

A sports coach should be in shape enough to move around a pitch without breaking sweat, or making the guys he's meant to be training wait for him to get into position. It hardly breeds confidence seeing someone not practising what they're preaching. Alternatively, if he's all about mentality, he should have a small group of younger coaches helping him with the physical side of what he's trying to get across. Unfortunately, this 'mentality' side of his coaching hasn't got into Waynes head.

If I can't blame the coach, who do I blame for being unable to get rid of that nervous twitch of Hennesseys where every free-kick outside the box looks like it will go in after he takes his OCD step in the wrong direction. Or help improve his distribution, presence, or decision making? It's down to coaching, and we've had the same goalie making the same mistakes week in, week out.

As for BFC, he doesn't have to physically kick a ball, whereas the coaches below him do, so they should be fit enough to do so.

Mandanda has made 9 appearances for us, a player who has been Captain for his previous club for years, and yet people are giving up on him for having constructive criticism about our coaching methods, in a team that has precisely ZERO leaders on the pitch.
