I can't claim to be an expert on American politics but I like Obama, the man has always struck me as a genuine and caring person. He didn't achieve as much as he wanted, he is the first to admit that but a lot of that is down to how American government is set up. Without an overall majority you're always pissing in the wind.

F me Matt, at it again I see. You live on a different planet. Obama - against all the odds - implemented universal health care. He was faced by a ferocious backlash from the people who could afford their own healthcare and couldn't give a sh*t for anyone else. Many tried before him and failed miserably. He has held the ship steady during a period of dreadful turmoil. He is the most statesmanlike President I have ever seen. He is presiding over a resurgence of the US economy. As for the Russians, this is the first known time when an election has been deeply affected, probably the result changed, by nefarious external activity. Did you think Obama would just roll over? It isn't in Trump's interests for the full facts to come out now is it. I guess you think good luck to the Russians if they can get away with it, that's how the free market works right? I am delighted to live on a different planet to you.

The US national debt has risen over 87% since Obama took office, unemployment is well above the 'official' figures of around 4%, a 75yr old record has been hit of young people staying at home with their parents (the highest since the 30's), student loan debt stands at an eye-watering 1.5 Trillion ( 0.7 Trillion in 2008 ), Food Stamp usage has risen dramatically (approx 46million users today, 26million when Obama took office), 46% of adults do not have enough money to cover a 0 emergency, 63% of Americans don’t have enough savings to pay for a 00 emergency, bankruptcies are up 40% over the past year, General Motors will temporarily close five assembly plants in January and lay off over 10,000 employees (Ford are temporarily laying off 9,000 workers), about six million people with subprime credit scores (below 620) are now at least 90 days past due on their payments for their car/truck and the effect of the recent rate hike (however small) hasn't even got a mention yet.

Not the people who are now covered and weren't before presumably. What is interesting is how much more healthcare costs in the US compared to the UK but I don't think you can lay that at Obama's door. By the way, as you know, Obama took office after the most recent financial crisis had already started.

I would like to see hard facts as to how the ACA has been the unmitigated disaster you claim. FYI, I used to work for the organisation that set it up for him.

FYI, I used to work for the organisation that set it up for him. Whilst I don't think the ACA has been a disaster, it hasn't been a great success either. NPR and Harvard are not known for being anything but left wing. Many people lost health care, lost coverage, or had costs massively increase. In turn, many people who were previously uninsured got coverage. Thus, the results are mixed. It has not solved the problem it set out to solve, which was to provide insurance for all. It has driven up costs, which were already high. The one area that is truly positive is that it prevented insurers from refusing to insure people who had a pre-existing health problem. Well at least Obama has got healthcare going its a start and more than any other President achieved. The USA is in much better shape after the 2008 crash than Europe but they have the same problem as we do - the voters. It would be fun to have a group of politicians on a forum and tell us voters what a pile of s**t we are. It was quite obvious in our referendum that's what they do think. Brexit tanked? Total nonsense ruined the UK - sorry but its not us - you voted for it.
