In respect of players cheating and retrospective action, I believe that the most apt punishment would be to deduct points from the team of the offending player and award them to the opponents on that day. In this way it is the employer of the player that is punished - and rightly so. I am fully aware that this will never happen. In terms of video replays it is all well and good to suggest they might help. However, who calls for the replay? Moss booked Rojo so he saw a foul. He saw a bad foul. He probably saw two feet, but it was Moan U so didn't pull the red. If anyone on here believes that officials are immune from the lure of the big money men in a game where the top players demand £300k + PER WEEK!, you are all sadly deluded and I pity you in your naivety.
Before you criticise someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you criticise them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes. |

It is obvious now that the speed of the game is too quick for the referees. Different refs are having shockers week in and week out. Mike Jones at Hull the other week, Craig Pawson at United and then a week later at Stoke - Leicester. And of course there's Clattenburg every bleedin' week. This is not a blip, this a trend. The game is too quick and the money involved motivates players to use "gamesmanship" or even cheat. This is too hard for refs to deal with. There are 2 things to be done.

It has to be done with the help of technology. The game is past the point where we can just say "it evens itself out" human error is costing teams millions and results in delegations or missed European football in some cases. I'd prefer the game to be slowed by breaks to get correct calls from video analysis then continue down this path of poor refereeing in the bigggest league on the planet. I also think that this rule that refs calls can't be altered post match if they see an incident is merely protecting refs and it is ridiculous. Yeah they saw it, doesn't mean they haven't f***ed it up. Edited by coulsdoneagle (24 Dec 2016 10.30pm)

The big v small team bias will never go away and all minor marginal decisions will continue to go towards the big clubs. This is purely due to the fact the referees are scared of causing an upset against a big team and being hung out to dry across the media. They are also intimidated by big name. I don't overly blame them as they are only human. With Pardew out and BFS in I wonder how this will affect decision making. I can't imagine many refs wanting a former England manager slating them after the game. They MIGHT be slightly more intimated of Big Sam than they were of Pardew. Videos and retrospective action are also a must, but they are not a silver bullet.

After Snotarse's blatant and obvious dive for which the idiot Jones somehow gave a penalty Pardew sympathised with the ref and went on about how hard it was for refs. Now that might have been code, but IMHO what needs to be said in a case like that is something more along the lines of "the ref was f***** s**** and f***ed up a bunch of really f****** obvious calls with f****** important consequences, the f******* t***". Unfortunately if you say that they fine you, even (or maybe especially) if it's true. So much for free speech. I have a feeling Samwise will be a bit more bullish and it's certainly true that he is, notwithstanding his misdemeanours passim, going to be able to make more noise in more awkward places than Pardew could.

Yes, and big Sam did - had a go at Clutterf*ck for giving Wilf a yellow instead of a pen to us. Delighted he spoke his mind. Probably won't help next time Cluffersh*t refs us - he remembers these things, like a Mafioso and a vendetta. Edited by peterg (26 Dec 2016 4.22pm)

I'm pretty sure when I saw the cup final that wasn't a "thing". Persistent cynical fouls were carried out today, time and time again Watford were not punished, yet first time fouls were rewarded with a yelllow for a palace player. His inconsistency and constant posing for the cameras really winds me up. The worst thing is handball Henry and his other sky muppet mate were complimentary of the performance.
