Gestede would be a pointless signing, never going to compete with Benteke for a starting position and they'd get in the way of one another in a 2 up front. Once Wickham returns we'd end up having 3 target men fighting for 1 spot. We need someone that runs in behind and stretches the defence. I've got an idea,,,oh no wait

Gestede is a terrific header of the ball and is strong at getting on the end of crosses. But he is not the most mobile, is not one to link the play nor does he have the pace to get in behind defences. Ok let's ask if we can play Forest every week then...

Gestede rumoured to be off to WBA. The problem that we will now have in this window is that we are relegation contenders so it's going to be a lot more difficult to attract the better players.

I can't help thinking that Gestede was never going to be a 'better' player anyway so no great loss. However, I would agree that based on previous January windows we are likely to end up with 'end of career, nowhere else to go' players.

If we buy Gestede, he will suffer from the same lack of supply as Benteke, who is twice the player he is.
Let's keep the ball this season! |

Even if Gestede is half the player Benteke is, I'd happily take half of Benteke's goals from Gestede. I'm sure he'd be less than half the price. Thinking about Campbell being only only striker if Benteke gets a knock down makes me mental.

I'd like to see us sign John obi Mikel as our Jedi upgrade as he's not been replaced. Rumoured to be heading to Marseille but they want flaming and at 29 on a free I think would be a useful addition. Next would be schlup from Leicester as a wife left player either lb or lm would give us much more balance. Lastly Defoe to play off benteke I think gestede would be a waste of time what's needed is a good smaller striker (Gayle) 🙈 Dare I say it. Be good if we could get Jaap Stam in to run the show aswell!! Like Schlup, but his head won't be right whilst dealing with his personal emotions.
