I hate to say it but I think after the whole saville debacle and yewtree as a nation we have simply become desensitized to stories like this and it doesn't surprise us anymore

Give it time. At present no 'big names' and its only perpetrators that have already been convicted of sex offence. These things tend to start to gather momentum and then explode.

It'll end up with some high profile names, at least one or two 'household name' sex offenders etc. Its still the 'easy low hanging fruit' stage.

So, the Chelsea fella from the 70's, the chief scout, who is being outed as a nonce is Eddie Heath. The same Eddie Heath my aunt knew and who tried to get me a trial with him aged 10.

Nothing came of it. I was really, really disappointed at the time. Not so today funnily enough.

There's already been stuff in the past about swimming coaches IIRC.

I actually think the high profile names will be largely victims, no one has a clue who runs youth set ups or even the reserves.

Same with cricket and even possibly rugby. Don't think any sport is off limits or any setting . When you have private schools who do sports trips with coaches and that kind of thing. It could literally happen anywhere

Lot of ex-players become coaches or otherwise involved with teams. And it won't be just with the youth set up per se. Plus quite a few youth coaches step up into managerial positions.

I wonder if any current players will come forwards.

Plus we've already got the first Met choosing to do nothing case mentioned. What is it with the UK Police and being to scared to stand up to child sex offenders.

Yep. Its about child sex offenders in positions of power over kids, not particular sports. Its priests, scout masters, PE teachers, Teachers, Care Workers etc all over again.

Its odd that its never really been 'a thing', plenty of youth coaches outside the professional world end up being done for nonse offences. Maybe the police were 'worried' about the influence of the club, or of being called anti-football for pursuing allegations.

That some victims have been constrained in speaking out due to gagging orders is just astonishing in my opinion.
