Disagree mate. If your trying to win the game you'd keep Benteke on for his goal threat, over chungy. I don't agree as I think Pardew, correctly, was trying to save the point. I thought he swapped him off for someone who could harry their back line for the last 10 minutes or so (which had worked very well up to that point): I would have thought he would have done better to have brought on Flamini or Delaney. Mind you, he went for the game against Burnley and got slagged off. He didn't go for it against MC and is getting slagged off. I suspect he can't win either way. The role of Wickham and Benteke defending corners would presumably have been discussed at half time when the former was brought on. Judging from the way the winner was scored and the reaction after it was not addressed when the sub was made. Pardew did the right thing in bringing Wickham on to bully them in the air a bit but undid it with a pointless / needless sub that upset the balance of the team and momentum and give City one less headache when we were doing ok. ..if Toure hadn't been afforded all the space of Selhurst park then everything that Pardew did would have sufficed very nicely.

He still has the support of the players, as they look like they were giving everything. I think he should have further strengthened at the back during the summer: which might not be his fault. For me, he deserves a few more games after two of the best ever seasons in our entire history. As I have said for a while, i would give him until the transfer window.

My point was that we weren't very well organised from the corner and this happened very shortly after the sub. Wickham in particular appeared unsure of what he should be doing.

I can't really fault AP for todays game, Kelly mucked up in the lead up to their goal. The second goal was a lapse in concentration. Now, ultimately the gaffer needs to take the blame as it's his team and ultimately the defense doesn't seem to be clicking with whatever he is trying to achieve. Second was a comedy of errors ... initial error by Ward, Kelly might have prevented the corner, nobody moved when the ball came in. Yes blame Pardew ... why the substitutions and what does he actually say when they train to defend set pieces? We are diabolical!!!

If I were a City central defender I would be delighted to see Benteke go off.

With two strikers and supporting play from Puncheon and Zaha we had a decent threat and we were keeping the pressure on City and stopping them from getting up the park much. When we took Benteke off we lost his goal threat and also his hold-up play so the ball came on to our defence much more. It looks to me sometims was if Pardew feels he needs to use up his three substitutes even if he doesn't need them. If we are making mistakes in defence why are we inviting the other lot on to us when we're doing quite well at keeping the ball up their end? Bonkers.

Once we scored we pushed Wickham wide, went back to one up top and never got out of our half for 10 minutes in which Benteke never won a header from a long clearance. It was IMO the correct decision to hold what we had against every pundits Champions elect. As someone pointed out, you slated him for going for it at Burnley, so make your minds up.
