Hope not . Would prefer Remy, all I see in Wickham is a headless chicken who scores rarely.

..isn't that what Klopp saw in Benteke?

I believe it's been said of Wickham that he likes the lifestyle of a professional footballer but not necessarily being a professional footballer. Can't remember where I've heard this and it may be total b*ll*cks. However it could explain why, injuries notwithstanding, he hasn't really improved in the time he's been with us. Shame really as the cameos against WBA and Sunderland made me think he was at last fulfilling the promise he showed as a youngster at Ipswich.

Before you criticise someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you criticise them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

I'm not sure what team you're watching but last season................ Palace attempted 689 crosses from open play last season, second only to Southampton and 73 more than the third team on the list. When dead-ball situations are included, Palace tried to put the ball into the box from wide areas more than any other side in the Premier League last term.

So maybe Connor wasn't starved quite as much as you think? He's a good player but still has a lot to learn.

I thought Yannick had a good game.

" attempted " being the operative word
Clearly as we couldn't score in as brothel very few of those " crosses " got anywhere near their intended target !

I would not worry if I was Connor, I very much doubt that we will ever see Remy complete a whole half of football for Palace. Permanently injured, past his best and could not even get in a bang average Chelsea side.

I'd agree I think we dodged a bullet by only loaning him. Wickham is decent back up for Benteke. But back up is all he is.

Agree with OP. He's at a stage (and is plenty good enough) where he needs to be playing every week. I'd be off in Jan if I were him.

Agreed, but you make yourself a target with movement and anticipation which does not appear to be Connor's strongest point but is where Benteke shows more craft. In fairness and for balance though, we are far more progressive and are now getting supporting players in and around the box. Nonetheless, it seems he's always going to be 2nd choice if both he and CB are fit.

I think it's quite obvious to everyone watching that we are crossing the ball a lot more this season, its getting crossed at every opportunity especially from the fullbacks.

I do not get this thread. How is it tough on Wickham? He does not punch his weight and he has lost his place to a world class centre forward in Benteke

Because arguably if Wickham had got the same service
Meaning at every possible opportunity a ball gets played into the box he also would have done better in front of goal
Yes Benteke is good
But Klopp didn't sell him because he thought he was THAT good he HAD to keep him , did he ??
No, Liverpool play to a different style
Just as we now play to a very different style
