Whether he said fielded or not, 9 British players played from the start on Sunday, Delaney came on later, which is completely irrelevant. Admit that you thought Delaney started the match

There is more chance of Arsenal fielding an entirely British XI than there is of Trollo the clown admitting he made a mistake.

It is a great accolade for the club, and nearly all of our British players could play for most of the top half Premier League teams. The likes of Dann, McArthur, Cabaye, Mandanda and Townsend are good enough to be squad members for the likes of Arsenal, Spurs, Man United and Chelsea. I would certainly argue that Dann should walk into the Arsenal team. Our players are better than Burnley have got

I think Dann and Mandanda might make the Arsenal squad, or the Spurs starting 11, but I don't think any of them would get into United or Chelsea starting 11.

I don't really see what the fuss or importance is with them being British players, though, given that there is no UK or British international team.

Counting Ledley or Damo as British is effectively meaningless, as they'd play for different international teams. Arguably, all of them were EU players.

The fuss about it is due to the extremely low percentage of British players across the entire league.

Home grown players are important though and being British means that they almost certainly are. This is a football law.

Being an EU passport holding player is only important in terms of not needing work permits. This is an actual law.

Pape Souare would get in ahead of Luke Shaw the way Mourinho is going on.

I said I would "Hold my hands" up so I will.

I counted 8 in the starting eleven as for some inexplicable reason I forget Ledley so YES there were 9 British players who actually started and hence were "Fielded" according to my interpretation.I did think that Delaney was the 9th but realised he is from the Republic Of Ireland. My fault entirely so I am NOT ashamed to admit the error of my ways.Well I am nearly 64 !!!! Well done to the OP !

This is great for the team and the club

Man Utd won so much because Sir Alex relied on Brits
There is definitely more steel in the side and spirit with the Brits

I didn't feel I needed to apologise on account of my interpretation of "Fielded" but once I realised that there were indeed 9 players "Fielded" I admitted that I had erred. As I said, I'm NOT into "Squirming" etc and if I make an error I am quite prepared to admit it. And I do make quite a few !

Arsenal's invincibles - one British player (Campbell)? Or the sides anchored by the midfield of Petit and Viera? Mourinho's first Chelsea side (possibly the best premier league side ever) had Lampard and Terry but the rest were foreign.

I don't think there is anything to be particularly proud of, especially as at least 3 non Brits would almost certainly have played if not for injuries and the best 2 in our squad are also probably non Brits.

But it is helpful given the likely introduction of home-grown quotas and if we ever made it into Europe the limits on foreign players (although it is 17 of the 25 so I think we'd likely be ok).

Arsenal had Ashley Cole and Ray Parlour played about a third of the games.

Chelsea had Joe Cole, Glen Johnson, Wayne Bridge, SWP and a few appearances by Scott Parker and Carlton Cole.

You have touched a nerve here so excuse my reply

You don't seem what the eefing importance of using British players over foreign mercenaries ? Would you say the same if it were in a different industry ?? lets employ a load of foriegners a f*** off all the young lads who haven't been given a chance .

And what the f*** has the f***ing EU got to do with it ? the sooner we are departed from that shower of s*** the better.
