Sorry, but did I miss something? We won away in the premier league and still people looking to dissect a negative from the game. A lot of wanna be managers on here who wanted Pardew out, so glad they were ignored quite rightly. Let's just Give the gaffa some space. I couldn't give a monkeys about playing Benteke junior. I thought he did well when he came on and held the ball up. Edited by premier fan (12 Sep 2016 8.44am)

It should be great motivation for CB, JB only got a chance because of injuries. No way would i have played him holding on to a one goal lead it was a massive risk. The players who need games and a couple of 21s should get a game in the cup at least i hope so.

Blatantly obvious it was something to do with the big Ben deal, but Luke Dreher definitely deserves a sub appearance over Johnathon

Makes sense... Dreher is a midfielder. We needed an outlet to relieve pressure on the defence.

Some folk really should read the thread before posting. There is no way baby Ben would have been on the bench in normal circumstances. Injuries meant this had to happen. Given the last thing we need is an injury to Big Ben, this was a sensible sub to make.

the point of the original post is (I think) that the whole signing of Benteke junior is quite bizarre. Firstly, he was recommended by his brother (no kidding!!!) and then how Palace scouts felt that a struggling Belgium 2nd div striker might be good enough for the Prem is even more bizarre. Then not only does he make the bench, but he also plays tops off an unusual set of events. Pardew also says we paid a fee - initially I thought this was a free. Why bother paying for a makeweight when we have 3 young non league strikers on our books. Clearly it was done to keep older Benteke happy and hopefully are only paying Junior say 1% of the older's salary BUT to end up with a situation where we have to play the guy beggars belief. Yes getting 2 strikers injured at the same time is unfortunately but Remy and Wickham are no strangers to the fitness room so it also wasn't entirely unexpected. We also already knew that Campbell and Appiah (who has no prem experience) are not fit so letting both of our young strikers out on loan appears a little short sighted, especially as both were on the bench for the first game of the season.

IF asked I 100% guarantee the youngsters sent out on loan will be far happier playing games than sitting hoping for a call up to the 1st team squad when we have a Cup game.It serves no purpose in their football education to spend the whole season running about at Beckenham when they can be learning their trade at other clubs. They are all very aware that they are being given a platform to show they are worthy of a place in a future 25 at the club and its up to them to take it. Kai Kai in particular has been given a real opportunity playing at Brentford in the Championship,he has gone up through the divisions playing games against senior pro's rather than Development players. Those of you whining about these lads not being available for occasional bench warming really do need to take your heads for a s*** as the club are doing exactly the right thing for everybody concerned.

You answer every point raised with your own answers! We have no strikers, thats how he got to play. You question the Palace Scouts, they had about as much involvement in signing Benteke Jnr as they did Campbell. They are either blameless in both or complicit in both. At least we had someone to bring on for once.

going by what people who actually watch them say, I think Palace fans overrate our yoof (apart from Kaikai). Jonteke is a strange one though, never thought he'd actually play. Shame the non league wonders aren't around to get on the bench and maybe get minutes
