How many matches, since he left, has Glen Murray played a full 90 mins in? How many goals did he score for Bournemouth last season?

Whilst many off us were sad to see him go (and at the time, we should have kept hold until we had a replacement), you cannot seriously think that getting the likes of Benteke and Remy in, leaves us in a worse position?

Wickham is a different type of striker and whilst its not worked for him, he's had little or no service to speak of. Hold on to your lacy bits and watch the next few months, i'm pretty sure you'll bite your tongue.

In fairness to Glenn, he did score 3 in 10 for Bournemouth. I think its safe to say it was a mistake to let him go last season, with hindsight. Issue was always going to be that Murray was very clear about not wanting to be a squad player.

To say it hasn't worked for Wickham is a bit unfair, he's been plagued with knocks, but when out of his wheelchair and match sharp, he gets goals and makes goals for us.

Wickham scored in the semi final and gave us another FA Cup final. (My first) He's worth the money we paid just for that imo. Also he's gonna be a good player to have on the bench, don't forget he's only 23! A good 10 years at least left in him so he will get better.

Benteke a Liverpool flop? He didnt suit Liverpool style and will have his Villa form with us. Class signing and may well end up being the best striker we've ever had at Palace.

A flop who only managed to score 1 in 3 playing for a side that barely played him.

I am not slagging Benteke, I hope he will be great for us.

I was trying to illuminate the true cost of replacing Murray and the failure of Pardew to achieve that for a reasonable sum.

Now he has thrown absolutely mental money at it, he may have finally solved the problem that Freedman did with a free transfer.

What you are doing is sticking more pins in your extremely worn out AP Voodoo doll and trying to convince us your right. You do however generate some priceless responses so please continue with the good work.

It's very important to realise if £9m Connor Wickham had been the player Pardew thought he was (and most people with a clue knew he never would be) we would never have signed Benteke.

We have splashed £32m on the Liverpool flop because Wickham has been absolutely terrible - one of the worst buys in the history of the football club.

In fact, so bad that last season we signed £100,000 a-week Adebayor as our new centre-forward for about four months.

That came on the back of the dreadful Sanogo the season before, who kept Murray out of the team until thankfully he got injured.

By the way Glenn then came in and scored a goal every other game, plus put in one of the best Number 9 displays ever seen at Selhurst Park vs Manchester City.

So, I make that around £43m to replace a Dougie Freedman free transfer.

Keep up the good work Alan!

Its been downhill for us since we let Peter Simpson go.

Why is it mental money?

£50M for stones is mental money.

Don't think £9M for Wickham is mental

£3M for Remy isn't mental

And £27M for someone of Bentekes class isn't mental in today's world.

So I'm still trying to figure out what your point is?

You believe he should have signed Benteke for free ?

Or found another solution to bring in a free transfer?

Your getting slaughtered becuase your not making any sense.

This is on the day we sign a DM on a free.

Plus Mandanda was virtually free.

Our net spend this window for overhauling the squad is tiny and yet you moan we've spent bonkers amounts of money.

Couldn't make it up.

Anti Pardew posts for not spending enough and now anti Pardew posts for spending to much !!!!!

The cost of replacing a Championship player bought in the Championship with a Premier League proven player playing in the Premier League?

Think of how silly you sound.

This has to win the worst thread of the week award hands down.

There have been a few contenders knocking around, must be the International break!

What on earth are you on about?

DF scouted Murray in League 1 for the Champ and got him to agree shortly before his contract ended. That doesn't happen very often and happens hardly ever in the Prem.

The nearest you get is bringing Defoe back but he is proven anyway.

Or you sign bargain after bargain and never find the answer, and haven't we just done that? And we are not the only ones to do that either.

It can be the difference between Prem survival or Championship oblivion.

And end result is you're left with 3 or 4 mediocre to not good enough at Prem level strikers on more wages than 1 that IS PROVEN. Now we have 1 on a huge wage and one on a medium one and one on loan. There is no problem upfront fella.

The way things operate these days, your issue rests with the Board.

Best case we've wasted £5m upgrading to Wickham as a backup. Worst case we still don't get goals and would have been no worse off with Murray therefore £40m odd down.
