Worthing/Durrington/Goring.

As this is meant to be an irrational fear, I have no further comments to back this up.

Charming !!!!
I live not far from these areas and I have just returned from Worthing !

Ok, I will back it up a bit. I have three reasonably weak reasons.

Firstly, Worthing football fans spent 90 minutes singing anti Burgess Hill songs one season when we were playing them instead of supporting their own team.

Secondly, the Worthing 20 mile race which is four laps of Worthing/Goring where the locals try to run you over and after 20 miles of running my chip didn't register me having finished so I never got an official time for my trouble.

Thirdly, I went on a date with a girl from Worthing. The date was in Worthing. She faked her own death to avoid a second date.

Regards Worthing football supporters I am informed that at a recent game at Bognor Regis Town they unfurled a banner which read "I'd rather be a rebel than a rock".I am also informed that it was ripped up by the home supporters !

Finally, sorry to hear that the "Second date" didn't come to fruition !

Not obvious sh*tholes or snobby stuck up nightmares, but as the title demands s.v.p. For me Wandsworth has a neutrality, boredom and soullessness it is quite hard to pinpoint, it needs a few trips past the old Arndale centre to appreciate its bottomless underlying grimness. Over six years Kingston upon Thames never gave me any problems but I always described it as 'Hollyoaks meets invasion of the body snatchers' to anyone unfortunate enough to be listening. I am currently commuting to Maidstone - a hot bed of outdated provincial sh*tkickers resides therein - it does not stand out as being particularly nasty but I find it truly vile - I think it's the ones that creep up on you that arouse the detestation - you expect Dagenham to be revolting so it doesn't disappoint. So any supposedly harmless places you would happily bomb?

Maidstone - I used to have to call there every few weeks as a regional sales adviser for Britannia BS.

My first visit I was running late and unsure of the branch location so parked up and headed towards the main shops passing a market where I politely asked a guy on the fruit stall if he could direct me to my location.

His reply was "Do I look like the facking A-Z mate?"

I said Thanks sarcastically moved on and found the branch reasonably close to where the market was.

On my next visit to Maidstone I went up to the fruit stall and the same rude stall holder was there - so I ordered loads of fruit which he eagerly bagged up and obviously didn't remember me from a few weeks before. I ordered pineapple, bananas, cucumbers etc.... I really got him at it... he thought he had got his day off to a great start and then totted up the bill and asked me for my cash.

I looked at him and said "Do I look like the facking A-Z mate?" in the same aggressive tone he had used to me.

It dawned on him who I was and I smiled said "Thanks, but I've changed my mind, have a nice day!" and then walked away whilst he shouted obscenities.

Mind you the Branch Manager and assistant at Maidstone were diamond geezers, but they weren't from Maidstone!

I have a proper soft spot for Bognor Regis. I believe they occassionally used to come and support BHTFC as a sort of second team when they had nothing better to do, partly because one of their ex-players, Jamie Howell, managed BHT for a bit. In recent years we have played in the same league as them, but I've always been keen for them to do well.

Whereas Worthing can f**k off. I actually hate Worthing more than any other club. I'd even (reluctantly) want Brighton to beat them if the two met.

And regarding the second date, no worries, I think she was a bit unhinged.

Some of their supporters come to watch 'East Preston' play on certain occasions when their side is playing 'Away'.
In actual fact, I am informed that Worthing's U21 team from last season who finished as U21 Ryman Champions now play for East Preston first team and they beat Tooting & Mitcham 1-0 away in the FA Cup this season.

I've never been to see a Worthing game but I have been to see Burgess Hill Town a few times. Is it still called the 'Green Elephants Stadium' ?

No true fan would ever call it that, but yes, officially it is!

Leylands Park to anyone else!

Not that I have any issue with the sponsors, I have no reason to dislike them, just historically the ground hasn't had a sponsor.

I should show this to my Mrs. She was living in Banstead when we met and now lives with me in Burgess Hill which she thinks is the ghetto because sometimes people rev their car engines or swear in public!

You're right, Banstead is/was boring. Has a lovely parkrun though.
