Yes, brilliant window, no doubt.

We have signed five quality players to go alongside Cabaye as a really good quality core of the side.

The other five places in the starting 11 are by no means rubbish players either. Zaha, Puncheon, McArthur etc. etc.

If we get another 2 through the door then that would be great, but my view is that these are more required to add depth rather than necessarily improve the first team.

Obviously Wilshere would have been something else, but we can't have everything.

I think your kind of missing the discussion point.
What we have got and what we need are 2 different things.
No creativity in midfield will stifle the obvious quality we have invested in up top.
What will we be able to do with what we have to change a game if it's not going well?
Unless your thinking putting a "10" on Mandandas back and hoping he can pull the strings for us going forward?

Or we could have got this 'creative midfielder' and not signed Benteke or Townsend... Would that have been better? We can't make a perfect team in just one window

Can't see how any supporter could think otherwise. A vast improvement on the squad we had last season. But, hoopefully, more to come

I am amazed that anyone could be disappointed with our transfer dealings.
Think back a year or two,if someone had said Palace would soon put out a team containing Benteke, Remy,Cabaye,Townsend and Mandanda they would have been taken away by the men in white coats !

I'm amazed that anybody thinks it's such a great window. We are 2 players down, have little defensive cover and no replacement for Jedi. Last season Pardew was complaining the squad lacked depth, now it lacks players as well.

It's very difficult to say whether this has been good overall and improves not only the first team, but the squad too. Benteke and Mandanda are the big improvements, both in positions that needed to be strengthened. I'm not so sure Townsend is an improvement on Bolasie, not of what we've seen so far. Bolasie is an entirely different beast, who's value isn't covered in simple goals and assists stats. Midfield has been weakened, if we sign no one today, which is looking increasingly likely, then our midfield is incredibly fragile. Selling Jedinak was an absolute stupid decision and loaning out Williams and Boateng are extremely odd with no reinforcements coming our way.

I really think the money offered for Bolasie was way too much to turn down.
He could on occasions look fantastic running at defenders, the only problem is he couldn't cross or shoot on target.
For me Townsend hasn't properly settled in yet but he will,he's a top class winger who in today's mad transfer market was absolute bargain.

I agree it's been a good window but has the squad been improved

Gks (15/16)
McCarthy, Speroni, hennessey
Gks (16/17)
Mandanda for mccarthy (definite improvement)

Defenders (15/16)
Hangeland, marriappa, dann, delaney, ward, kelly and souare
Defenders (16/17)
We add Tomkins and Fryers will be added to 25 man squad
I feel we are one defender short of having improvement
From last season.

Central or attacking Midfielders (15/16)
Mutch,mcarthur,cabaye,chamakh, puncheon ,jedinak

For this season we are weaker in terms of the squad by losing jedinak steel in the squad and no extra creativity added.

Wingers (15/16)
Sako,bolasie and Zaha or chungy

Wingers this season 16/17 we added England international in townsend but lost bolasie. Would of liked an upgrade on sako.

Strikers (15/16)
Bamford (first half of season), campbell, wickham and chamakh and adebayor(second half of season) and gayle

This is the biggest improvement by bringing in benteke and remy.

I feel we improved GKS and Striker indefinitely. However 2 injuries in the wingers or defenders, we could struggle.

Sorry, Belfast. You might be unhappy, but I'm delighted. In broad terms we've traded spectacular but largely unproductive wing play for goal scoring potential.

It's been a fantastic window, taking in players we could have only dreamed about 1 year ago. Any additional players that come in by the end of today will simply be a bonus.

Don't apologise to him, he's a miserable sod. I don't read his posts, just look at the username and move down to the next one.

I am amazed that we can sign international players from some of the top teams in Europe and some people still think it's not been a great window.

I am not sure we need a replacement for Jedi, if we are trying to change the style of play then arguably we need and have something slightly different.

It's about evolution
