Worth getting him just to keep Wickham and Benteke on their toes. I don't think he'd be a bad player either. A good number 2 next to Wickham or Benteke (assuming we get Benteke of course). Good experience too. Won't get caught offside so much and could make smart assists. For the money I'd get him - not much risk.

As I put official stats for Wickham up last week , missed 25 games since start of 2011 season, no repeat same injuries and of them 25 missed games for Ipswich, Sunderland and palace , 17 were for us since signing, not great time last year for him but then most time out in the past 5 seasons, so injury prone (defo not) maybe just a tad unlucky last term

Glad someone has said this , most palace fans seem to think he is injury prone , which is laughable he has been fit most of his career , just had two injuries with us , pure bad luck.

At £4m,with his wealth of experience and awareness, must be worthwhile ,as it gives us so many more options with little financial risk in the scheme of things.

Who would have thought the day would come when we were linked to van persie and even more so be in a position to maybe say no. Personally I'd say no not because of injuries or lack of skill, but motivationaly I don't think he would be to bothered to be here. He's not in form at fenerbache and makes good money in the sun sitting on the bench. So would he really want to be here ?

All that aside its different when a player is offered out by there club to others, says it all really.

Those who have had past glories but now in the twilight of their careers are probably best avoided. Adebayor was a prime example for us last year.

Obviously I would love to have seen van Persie in the red and blue but I think we should be looking for younger and more hungry players now.

He did score 20 goals last season for Fenerbeche

Before the cup final he was involved with our last 5 goals, you could see the quality and the only striker we had who could play with his back to the goal and always looking to get on the ball. Okay wages were a bit high but not a bad signing to have in the squad for 6 months of last year.

No - hopefully we have learned something from getting players in their twilight years - none of whom have worked out.

Please not another Adebayor.
if he is free great, but we need a proper name.
Benteke needs to be signed urgently, otherwise we could loose out to West Ham
