He wasn't released. He chose to run his contract down.

He has been brilliant for Wales in qualifying and of course the finals. I joked to my son before the end of the season that if a scout had only seen him play for Wales then Real Madrid would sign him up.

Unlike trolley sorry I mean Willo, I haven't seen him play for Reading so don't know if he is worth a punt or not.

Sorry, I thought I'd heard he'd been released. Either way, he won't have a problem finding a new club.

Maybe Gareth Bale could put a good word in for him with Mr Zidane!

That Cruyffesk turn was pure quality and shows what he has got in his locker. Not only that he buried it past possibly one of the top 5 World goalies.

People too easily write off players when all they possibly need is a stage and flowing from it confidence.

He would cost no up front money and he may just may be a diamond that we can keep polishing!

Agreed, would make a good squad player possibly loan out and bring in we are short. Possible free upgrade on Cambell.

Not every player we sign can be a Benteke or Cayabe. Heck I'd say he's got more chance of making it than Jonny Williams although he did look OK in their last match.

But point is I don't think our squad is beyond him. And we need to be signing frees like this that might turn in to a huge profit. Or even decent profit.....

I'd have no problem us signing him. Weather he gets first team football is another question that he'd have to prove to Pards

I'm not sure the answer to our lack of goals is a player so good he has been released by a club in the division lower than us.

Every two years a tournament throws up a few heroes and a few villians and a few players who get big money moves before disappearing Thomas Brolin anyone?

Agree with this post. Also agree with those who believe we need a 3rd striker option if we get Benteke (Campbell does not count) Would love Babacar to be this 3rd option if we could get him for under 10 mill although I can't imagine us paying 10 mill for a addition to the squad. I know we have been linked with Berahino but if we couldn't find a way to fit Gayle into the way we play we wont for Berhino so probably wont happen. I think our best bet is to get a young target man from the lower divisions who shows potential who we could get for around 3 mill.

Kanu would be best suited to a middling to lower Premiership club whereupon he is more likely to receive first team action rather than keeping the bench warm. More scope also for ongoing nurturing of this very capable player. Would be ideal for Palace.

For the umpteenth time he chose to run his contract down. He wasn't released.

He has been brilliant for Wales, not just in finals but the qualifiers too. I don't know if he is good enough for the PL but he isn't s*** either.

the dignified don't even enter in the game

Robson Kanu had some space now because the defenders were scared of Bale. So it helped him a lot. Still think he isn't PL material. But with that tournament I think he will be picked up...

Agreed and is why he should not even be considered .He is a decent championship player and that's it .
As previously mentioned these comps throw up the oddest of heroes . The Guy that just scored the winner in the final couldn't score for Swansea if his life depended on it though some will be suggesting we make a bid

Does anyone know if he actually played as striker for Reading? I always remember him being more of a winger. He seems to have found his best position as a striker with Wales.

Haven't we got anyone in the reserves or juniors coming on? We don't seem to be getting much home grown anymore which makes no sense when you consider our catchment area. There must be another Wrighty kicking about in the local leagues.

The reality is that if Frazier Campbell was Welsh he'd start ahead of Robson Kanu.

Yes, he wasn't released and yes he isn't s**t. But Reading fans are hardly crying over his decision to run down his contract and when we need upgrades he is not the sort of player we should pursue unless we're absolutely desperate. I'm hoping ahead of this season we have lined up quality to compete for a place up top.
