Sven-Goren Eriksson (68.42% win rare) and Fabio Capello (68.18% win rate) are the top performing English managers
with Ron Greenwood (65.3 the next.

Germany 1 England 5 (Sven-Goren Eriksson)

England manager should be English

We tried the foreign route without success, they were just as bad if not worse

Give it to Gary Neville

No we tried the foreign route with a little more success.

When you say "they were just as bad if not worse" You ignoring evidence and living in the post factual world like the BREXITERs. Snap out of it. You are dragging us all down.

Supporting England just gets harder and harder. This was the first tournament in about 8 years I was genuinely excited for and it's about the worst of the lot. We have over-hyped players and a dwindling pool of managerial candidates. It's a shame Jose took the United job really.

To be honest at this stage I don't even care about success anymore, I just want some entertainment. Bielsa would be good, he's absolutely nuts and could quit at anytime. Realistically Southgate has been groomed for years though and even though to basically everyone else it's obvious he will be the next McLaren, you just know he'll get it.

The FA are pussies and won't take a risk.

We were somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the drugs began to take hold...

Eddie Howe for me. I'd have Shearer or Wright supporting him, for an extra dose of passion.

Southgate just doesn't have the experience or look like he's got the heart.

Gary Neville - failed big time at Valencia and really ballsed up his. defensive prep last night.

I'd agree with Gary Nevile. It's been another disappointing England tournament and someone with an understanding and a shirt-term will to make it work with GN might do ok. How worse can it get anyway?

I don't understand this s***e about england manager needs to be english? If a football team succeeded just the once and that was 50 years ago, wouldn't say there was anything off the cards.

It's quite a spectacular loss considering the quality of individual players this year.

Leicester won the league, Drinkwater's in Vegas meanwhile Wilshere and Sturridge have since managed half their season's appearances.

There is part of me that agrees with Shearer's sentiments and that his international experience and fervour to prove a point should enable him to be considered for the role:

Yeah, especially in Bloemfontein eh?

With the exception of Bobby Robson's one World Cup semi final, and maybe the semi final, at home, in 1996, we've been s*** for fifty years. Other than those, the consistently best results came under two foreign managers.

The fact the England has had some top managers and still been s*** should tell us where the problem really lies.

If you come to a fork in the road, take it.
