PLEASE NO - also his goal ratio is less than 1-in-4. Take some bloody lessons from Leicester, Watford, and Bournemouth. We don't need to spunk loads cash on zlist strikers. Would rather pay a fortune for an out and out quality striker or get a lower pay natrual goal scorer like Ulloa

Clearly this lad does not thrive under his methods and there is dissatisfaction. He won't go to the Spuds. They have moved on. There are, on the other hand, alternative better placed suitors. We may get him for more than £7M. not long left on his contract...

1 in 4 is a very decent ratio in the prem, gives you about 9-10 goals over a full season, none of our players got near that this term. Worth a punt around the £12m mark for me. But I think he'll go for much more. Originally posted by DivingIsNotGood

Would much rather they invest in a more beast type striker like Benteke, we need a bruiser up front, a bully like Andy Carroll instead of Berahino, who is a similar size and build to Gayle.

Didn't exactly set West Brom alight last season, did he?

Fair enough, but the 2 players you mention are in the £25-£35m bracket, so not a fair comparison with Berahino. I guess the best outcome would be for Gayle to 'do an AJ' and morph into a kick ass striker. For me though, he doesn't have the football nous, I think that's hard to learn.

Got 20 goals for West Brom the season before. Plus he's 22 - a 1 in 4 ratio for a young lad learning his trade in the Prem, with around half of those appearances coming off the bench or played wide right really is bloody good. I don't agree that Ulloa is a better option either, he has a similar 1 in 4 goalscoring ratio in the Prem but is turning 30 in a couple of months. Difficult to see where the argument that he is a better finisher comes from. The question mark for me would be whether he really offers us much more than Gayle. I think both need someone else up front with them to share the workload and allow them to concentrate on getting into goalscoring positions, and whether or not we'll look to play like that next season will really determine whether or not it makes sense. But if we can get him for £7m, you're talking the same price as Lewis Grabban for someone with his record and potential, it is well worth a punt.

I wouldn't read too much into his 20 goals last season. That record is boosted by a hat trick against Gateshead in the cup and 5 from the penalty spot. If he came here he wouldn't take the pens and would probably be rested in the first round of the cups. So really he would be a 10-12 goal striker.

So who has scored 10-12 goals this season in our current squad?

So I'm actually reading posts from palace fans who don't want berahino! Mental! Don't worry, he won't come to us anyhow, bigger fish methinks. However, if he did, berahino alongside wickham in a 442 would be pretty decent in my opinion.
