He's a cock. People rarely see a 147 and the PAYING public missed out on an opportunity because of his ego. Also some people may have had a bet, again they've lost out. Given the amount of scandal around max fixing in snooker I am surprised that no one has taken this further. If we are beating West Brom in a couple of weeks 4-0 and Wilf is on a hat trick but decides to deliberately fluff an opportunity in the 90th minute, what would you think then? First off I would think "how the f*** have we scored 4 goals in one game" !!!

Sorry disagree on a couple of points completely. 1) The tournament runs until Sunday, Ronnie won his next game and is still in it, so (however unlikely) the 147 Bet is still going and could be still be won. 7pm tonight is his 3rd Round game if interested.. & 2) I dont see this as deliberately missing a shot, if you read all reports the Pink was the easier shot anyway and it went in, subsequently Ronnie cleaned up and won the frame and match. So where is this deliberate miss you speak of? How can it be classed as match-fixing too?? (I know you didnt mention that but others have alluded to it). The pink was the easier shot because he played for it instead of playing for the black. He openly admitted after the game he could have played position for the black and got the 147 but decided as it was only 10k he played the pink. Don't see it as match fixing at all just arrogant to say it wasn't worth enough money.

He wanted to pull out of making a 147 on the black a while ago and was told he couldn't. Hats off to the guy for finding a way of doing this with out breaking any rules. I personally think it's hilarious. The breaks over and above winning a frame are artwork not needed to win the game so he can do what he wants. And bizarrely this 146 will be better known than most of his 147s!

Ronnie o Sullivan to snooker is what messi is to football and tiger woods is to golf. He is a master of the game. When on form he can do things that no other player can a true genius. Fact. I think he's right to say what he feels, without him these snooker tournaments would have a lot less viewers. The guy is legend. Arrogance comes with something like being a master at something especially when he has been for such a long time. Prob doesn't mean too

The guy's class. In a sport that used to be teeming with characters; he is the only one today worthy of that mantle; just happens to be arguably the most talented player ever to have lifted a cue too. He has his reasons to pick and choose which tournaments he plays in and they have nothing to do with arrogance or thinking he's bigger than snooker. Like most creative geniuses, he has his issues; but unlike many before him though; from what I can see he does not leave a trail of misery and destruction in his wake. Giving up on a 147 just enhances his legacy even more.

Personally I think he's being an arrogant c***(but then I can't stand him). Completely agree with you. £10k would make for a great difference to a school or a sports club. Simple truth is that greed has taken over Ronnie, and as brilliant a snooker player he is, he has evidently lost grasp of reality.

Greedy would be taking it and moaning about it.

Jim - I was having a laugh with match fixing that's why I put LOL.... it was very much a tongue in cheek suggestion. Secondly, as good as Ronnie is... scoring a 147 is a big deal and unlikely to be repeated in this tournament. My point was under normal circumstances the punter would have already won his bet but for Ronnie procrastinating about prize money. Lastly... I think Ronnie has been a marvellous ambassador for Snooker - as Stuk says, when he retires a lot of fans will probably go with him.

Quite some years back I was with a film team near Epping forest, when Ronnie drove up in an open top flash car, he had two ladies in the back and asked what we were doing, a colleague of mine informed him it was a programme called "crime monthly" he then told us that he had just be fcuking the two girls , then sped off, fair play!
