Looking only at Premier League teams there is little I can see.

Ayew (Aston Villa). He would be a very good replacement for Gayle if he goes. Villa have not signed anyone and really are dead and buried. They may just want to cash in now for a player who will not be with them in the Championship next season.

Borini (Sunderland). Has been linked with us already this window. Whilst likely to be considered as underwhelming he has a good all round game and, unlike Gayle, would be likely to get game time. A loan may well be the option for us.

Ayew (Swansea). Highly unlikely but an outside chance if they get Gayle. Would be a wonderful player to have if Swansea are considering selling.

Crouch (Stoke). If anything a loan deal although very unlikely.

Ulloa (Leicester). May be on loan but I hope not.

So, as I said, not much available for us. These are just my thoughts not my choices. I know we have been linked with wingers and midfielders but I am just focusing on strikers in case Gayle leaves.

Maybe we are looking at someone from the lower leagues, perhaps we have a foreign import in mind, Gayle may not be leaving after all. Whatever, we will have all the answers in the next 16 hours or so.

What you've said is fair when it comes to the players that you've mentioned. You say that there is not much available but you havnt mentioned 1 player from over seas. Why should we be looking at just Prem players. For example we have been linked to Zaza. Personally this is the one I would get more excited over than any of the ones you have mentioned

Read the post again he says looking at only premiership options, then mentions at the end maybe overseas ect or no one.

As for zaza they have said no way so I think we won't unfortunately. He is decent though and I'd like to see it.

Gayle to leave and join Swansea. Not expecting anyone else to join us.

If someone leaves we are likely to see someone coming in. That's what Paris implied, anyway.
