Wjilnaldum, for sure. Play him at 10 infront of McArthur and Cabaye and he'll shine. He was awesome for PSV, and I don't think we've seen the best of him in the league yet.

Long way to go, so I wouldn't write any team off just yet though.

Do you mean "Wijnaldum".

So would I be in the Eredivisie and I'm 67, the Eredivisie is not the Premier League not by a country mile it's not, you only have to look at all the top scoring players from the Eredivisie that have come to the Premier League, most if not all do not do well in the Premier League, Bony of City for example, 45 in 65 games for Vitesse, only 27 in 80 games in EPL, the EPL is a world away from the Eredivisie in class.

I wouldn't mind having a forward as 'bad' as Bony at Palace.

Nor a midfielder like Wijnaldum for that matter.

You can't dismiss every player to come out of the Eredivisie just because the standard is lower.

I don't, but I can because I've seen the steady decline in the standards of the Eredivisie over years, not 5 minutes, that's why players like Bony and Wijnaldum have proved nothing in the Eredivisie, they need to do that in the Premier League, Bony as yet has not, the jury is out on Wijnaldum who has really under achieved at International level, scoring 4 against what was a very very poor Norwich defence is no guide, like I said in a previous post "my granny would look good against that defence".

Is it a surprise that the Eredivisie is so poor these days when all the top players jump ship to the Premier, Serie A, Bundesliga or La Liga, for the big bucks on offer, then all the best of what's left find their way to the top 4-5 clubs leaving the smaller clubs with nothing but local players and foreign imports that are no better.

Clubs in the Eredivisie do not have the cash power to complete with the wages the clubs in those Leagues provide.

exactly the same can be said of the premiership. compared how strong it was 10 years ago.

Very early for this kind of stuff and I don't ever like talk of raiding other clubs. NUFC look like they've got a struggle this season though.

In terms of their overall squad and chances of staying up, Janmaat seems to have a fair bit of interest from the top 4/5, probably as competition but a decent player.

Wijnaldum hasn't quite hit the heights yet, Mitrovic has potential but has to sort out his disciplinary side to be taken seriously and Perez is a bit like Bolasie in the sense of will he/won't he have a breakout season and get into double figures. If so, he'd be a handful. Sissoko seriously has to up his game to give them a shot at survival. Cisse's injury record is really causing them problems.

At the moment, there's a lot to be concerned about there as I don't think they have a lot outside of that.

Agree.Last few seasons we were tipped to go down at this time of year . All conjecture and a bit arrogant

I wonder about the young winger who played against us last year at st james park Rolando Aarons. I think he may be currently injured but he looked a star for the future

The Premier League has lost very little over the last 10 years, it just that some of the other leagues like the Spanish, German, and French have caught up, and are much stronger than 10 years ago, the decline in the Eredivisie over the last 10 years borders on the catastrophic it now struggles against Leagues like SPL and many of the former Eastern Bloc Leagues, where as in the past it was one of the strongest, but no more.

Also on yesterdays performance I stand by my comments regarding Wijnaldum, he's not good enough for the Premier League, he will need a couple of years to get up to speed, that's if he gets that time.

I thought their players were a disgrace yesterday. We played well but they made us look good. Don't want any of that shower, Cisse was the only one that looked like he was trying.

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

If they do go down Ashley will hardly have their better players priced to sell. We would get better value, not to mention better morale levels buying players from the surviving teams or those coming up.

That being said, I'd take a chance on a fairly priced Ronaldo Aarons. Although he's the type of player that they'd want to keep hold of in the Championship and once fit he may not be much better than Kaikai.
