They're rumoured to be lined up for a 6-18bn dollar fine. You couldn't exclude them from the market as that would also f*** over: employees, supply chains, dealers, garages, owners etc. Their CEO in America is probably s***ting himself.
What can VW do to fix this? They can issue a recall and change the software so that the cars now run at the required emission levels; but that's going to kill the performance that you paid a premium to get. That would not cut it for me; I would argue that I'd been induced into the contract by fraudulent misrepresentations, and I'd demand a full refund of the original purchase price...I believe I'd get it too. Now multiply that by the 11 million cars that VW say are impacted by this...
We don't do possession; we do defense and attack. Everything else is just wa**ing with a football. |

It just needs one test case to be found against vw and they are in trouble. When spending a large amount of money most people look into every aspect.Emissions are among the top factors when choosing a vehicle. It is inevitable that people have chosen a vw over other makes because of its low Emissions ,this is fraud .When cars are retested they could be in the wrong road tax band. This is not going g to go away with a simple recall.

Found out this morning, my car is on the list for re-call. Hopefully I'll get a shiny new vehicle. I'll likely get a two year wait to get it "fixed..."

I very much doubt whether that is true for the majority of people although Green Party members might be the exception. People have a range of different priorities when buying a car with looks, performance and economy having a lot of importance and handling and comfort being up their too but I doubt whether the amount of NOX given out is considered at all and I doubt whether most owners would even know anything about the legal levels for NOX emissions or how much their car was supposed to be emitting

Corporate governance in Germany needs a jolly good shake up. This plus earlier Bribery issues at VW, Deutsche Bank is so under capitalised that it's almost funny.

This episode has got me thinking.......... How come the Germans always beat us at penalty shootouts? I'll bet they've been cheating at that too!
