I think we can forget all about Slimani after today. If he was aware of those rumours before today's game I doubt he can stop laughing this evening.

Reality is, he plays consistently for a club in the Champions League qualifiers. I'd love him, but i'm not sure why he'd want to come to Palace.

Wouldn't he be great to have tho?! At least his performance today should encourage Palace to make an offer. Much rather him than Ramos

So did Joe Ledley. Reality is the premier league is a huge pull for players in less lucrative leagues.

Top ten premier league team is a slightly bigger pull than Champ League qualifiers now days I'd say.

Not forgetting Johan Cabaye who was at a club that have money to burn, and regularly top their League by a margin.

I can give you upwards of fifty thousand reasons a week why.

You must not forget the importance of wages in people's job choices.

I wouldn't.

On wages, yes.

On "prestige," and the ability to prove yourself on a perceived higher stage; no.

Slimani is valued at at £12 million and if Sporting are willing to sell i see at that price for a 27 year old as a bargain.

Apparently interested [according to Talk Sport] along with West Ham and Fernabache.

People may be deflated by this rumour given our association with Austin, Remy and Ba. However, more likely to be within our price range and wage structure and generally far more realistic.

Also, he can score a goal.

I'd be more interested in their keeper.

Cynic or realist? It's a fine line!

Wasn't he available at £8m after WC2014?

So did Joe Ledley. Reality is the premier league is a huge pull for players in less lucrative leagues.

But they're also cheaper players that can hugely pay off, it's not like it hasn't before.

Thierry Henry came from the French league.

Luis Suarez came from the Dutch league.

Cristiano Ronaldo from the portugese league.

3 of the greatest players players in premier league history. A player of real quality can always adapt, of course there are many unsuccesful stories too but let's trust Pardew is a good judge of the caliber we are looking at.

We're the Arthur over ere!
