Seems a bit harsh but don't smuggle drugs in/out of place where it's punishable by death. Very harsh on the Brazilian bloke who wasn't all there. I wonder what we'll do with the Turks found smuggling £500m of cocaine into Scotland? (that's put a spanner in the SNP's planned celebrations!)

f*** them. They knew the risks and they accepted them when tried it. You can't play the game knowing the rules and then cry because you lost. The dear old "grandma" tried taking 1.6kg of heroin that's not exactly personal use is it? Just because she has a British passport does not exonerate her from what she did. They should handle her as they see fit on the grounds she had a fair trial.
People that deal in drugs have no welfare concerns for those addicted to their poison.... why should we be concerned that they have died? Hopefully it will be a deterrent to others although I somehow doubt it. More scum off our streets. Well none of them are actually on our street, and most of the UK's heroin doesn't come via the far east anyhow (it comes from Afghanistan, via pakistan, Turkey and Italy). When I say off our streets, I was talking globally. I don't give a fcuk where the drugs are produced or sold.... they cause misery and mayhem. The firing squad is too good for this evil scum peddling drugs.

I wouldn't have a clue whether those executed this week all did or didn't do exactly what they were executed for. But, as another poster pointed out,a life sentence is hardly an easy stretch,so to the extent punishment is a deterrent (against the temptation for some of taking high risks in return for perceived "easy" money),a life sentence in Indonesia might be reasonably high as effective deterrents go and/or satisfy the desire to inflict strong punishment for involvement with drugs. I do know not everyone who makes a "confession" for Court purposes has necessarily actually done the deed in question...history is littered with examples of that.As has also been said, once you're dead, you're dead and its no consolation if it later emerges you shouldn't have been found guilty. People may feel the firing squad "is too good for this evil scum".I wonder if they also feel they should have a good prospect of having had a fair trial (including sentencing) first in a situation where punishment is meted out equally across the board, particularly if,heaven forbid and purely hypothetically for example, they ever found themselves arrested at an airport after someone had (unknown to them) planted drugs in their bags?If a person got none (or even not all) of these, would they definitely still be "scum" for whom the firing squad is too good? The link below is IMO worth reading as a point of view (I can't say if contains any accuracy or not and no doubt others have suggested the opposite to be the case of what is suggested in the link) on some aspects of the approach to the law, getting the same outcome across the board, and drug-related matters in Indonesia. it's amazing how many drug smugglers that are caught that didn't realise they were carrying drugs and their trials were corrupt and unfair.

Nothing like ducking the point,Hoof! Lets hope something like the below never happens to a member of your family.. Anyway,if it did, perhaps you'd just regard them as "scum" for whom the firing squad was too good... Edited by legaleagle (01 May 2015 10.23am)

Me and my family would never get involved with drugs or be stupid enough to let someone plant drugs on us in any situation.

I have mixed feelings about this. There's an element of you know the risks v the reward and if you get caught tough s*** deal with it. However I do think people should by and large have the chance to redeem themselves. I can't stand the bleating by those caught but firing squad?

I knew people who used to smuggle Khat to The USA, Canada, South America & (for some strange reason Norway)they all knew the risks albeit none of these countries you would get the firing squad, but in The USA you'd get deported. Canada was usually six weeks jail time, but one guy who smuggled some stuff into Peru got a 14 year jail sentence.

pathetic anyone who says drug dealing scum deserve to die without knowing the ins and outs. No matter how you look at it drug dealing is not a crime that is worthy of the death penalty. Junkie's existed before these guys and will continue to exist after these executions. They didn't hold a syringe to anyone and make them use it. Edited by Brentmiester_General (02 May 2015 1.59pm)
