If you ever want to see a grown man cry and throw a fit just keep an eye on Farage if we got rid of St George, St David, St Andrew and make this chap the patron saint of the UK - Benedict of Nursia. Edited by johnno42000 (23 Apr 2015 12.58pm) Edited by johnno42000 (23 Apr 2015 12.59pm)

Best demonstration of 'Englishness' would be for the government to announce it was sending significant resources to save lives in the Med. That would make me proud.

It's mainly because of those wars we started/joined in with that there's so many people from Iraq, Syria, Libya, etc who are risking their lives to get to Europe. Your point about warlords in the likes of Somalia is fair, although we will never go after them because, as you point out, there's no oil there.

KING HENRY V Happy St. Georges Day The really English thing about St Georges Day is that we English don't really do it. So I'd rather shelve the forced and backward looking nationalism and look to the future
Take some Picts, Celts and Silures Remove the Romans after approximately 400 years Mix some hot Chileans, cool Jamaicans, Dominicans, Then take a blend of Somalians, Sri Lankans, Nigerians Sprinkle some fresh Indians, Malaysians, Bosnians, Leave the ingredients to simmer. As they mix and blend allow their languages to flourish Allow time to be cool. Add some unity, understanding, and respect for the future, Note: All the ingredients are equally important. Treating one ingredient better than another will leave a bitter unpleasant taste. Warning: An unequal spread of justice will damage the people and cause pain. Give justice and equality to all. Benjamin Zephaniah

And then AC Milan and Barcelona. Late to the party (very late) but isn't AC Milan's St. George's Cross to do with them being set up by Englishmen, rather than a Milanese affiliation with George?
